believe it or not but P & O have a pet lounge, naturally for a charge.... alternatively: eurotunnel is quick and you can or better have to stay in the car yourself. It has become rather extensive though. Originally posted by Hannes
Does anyone happen to know if there is a ferry between England and France or Belgium where you can take your dog on deck? Normally you have to leave him in the car in the hold during the crossing, but our poodle would certainly make a fuss (and my wife on deck even more so). I’m not sure why you wouldn’t still need headlight stickers as our headlights block the wrong side for driving on the right. You would get flashed a lot if nothing else. You will need UK badge for sure if you have a GB number plate as has been stated. Also, strictly speaking, you are no allowed to use your speed camera warning system if you have one. Weird I know.

Leave the dog food and water and the mrs a flask of tea and a pack up and leave them both in the car. Cheaper and solves many issues. Including your holiday starts more quietly

It's not weird at all. It's to force drivers to obey the speed limit at all times rather than breaking it then slowing down every time their sat nav tells them there is a camera ahead. Unlike this country where we don't want to infringe a driver's human rights by forcing them to obey the law, so we allow speed camera detectors and place warning signs everywhere. Even then, drivers stupid enough to be caught blame everyone other than themselves for the fine and the points they receive (the police, the council, the Tories, the cash-generating system...).

There are roadside warnings of speed cameras in France, well some at least. Seem to remember the requirement to warn motorists was an EU edict which at the time we had to adopt.

In fact, mobile speed cameras operators could technically choose to operate in an unmarked vehicle with no speed camera sign. For stationary speed cameras you usually see signage, but this isn’t mandatory. You could still be charged for speeding even if there are no speed camera warning signs. GoSafe says: "You can see safety camera signs on routes leading to sites where fixed cameras operate. "This isn't a legal requirement. The mobile sites have no requirement to have a camera warning sign."
