Just heard from Alex crook on talkSPORT that a new contract is on the table for eze that he’s not keen to sign at this moment in time…. Oh dear. We need to be prepared for when these boys leave with replacements, hopefully that’s what freedman is doing already

You can’t blame him not committing for longer. That five year deal probably cost Wilf a move to a bigger club in this country because it was going to cost them too much, then suddenly he’s in his thirties and that’s it, how olds Eze now? 25?

Get used to it Jaha. Kids with potential will come to us aged 18-22 and will sign 4/5 year contracts and if they begin to fulfil that potential will be snapped up by the bigger fish within 2/3 years (yes we'll make a tidy profit) and so the wheel turns. WE have to try and ensure that with each reinvestment we improve the squad in the hope that one day we will hit the heights of Europe and possibly even win a domestic trophy.

If we make more bad purchases than good then we'll be joining Southampton and Leicester.

Eze will look at Zaha as an example why not to sign a long term agreement. Unfortunately we just have to accept that he will outgrow us and is destined for bigger things, things that we can't provide him. As long as his departure gives us the opportunity to grow and invest, then so be it.

I'm looking forward to seeing him this season however, he has a big point to prove this year!

Absolutely! Big season for Ebz and therefore could be for us.

Buy-out clauses are the enemy. However, for the likes of Eze and others without them, we can either hope they play fantastically for us, which of course will be to our benefit, and then have to move on for mega bucks (again where we will benefit) or they may well follow the Zaha mould and not quite attract a big enough fee for us to allow them to leave too soon. It's within his and other's gift really to prove their worth and secure such moves, in which case we'll take the money and move on. We provide the platform, up to them to shine.

All sounds great in theory of course...

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Reckon the eagle is eyeing up the bumfluff on his chin for the comfy corner of his nest.

This is concerning and I am beginning to wonder perhaps indicative of the fault in our strategy?

All those signings in what seemed like a single hit was so promising however if a one off event, can't be shocked that individuals from that cohort might start saying 'I want to move on, and the club isn't'.

In my opinion with Wilf gone and Olise injured or likely to go, Eze is thinking (well him or his agent) firstly, that he can call the shots, secondly, he could do with some help. He's just going to get targeted currently which he probably realises. It's a bit much for a young player to have basically the hopes of the whole club on him.
The obvious point is - who else is going to either create or score goals? The other members of the team have never given any particular indication that they're able to do it.
