The host for 2026 has withdrawn and the 2030 games doesn't yet have a host. The issue is money, Mayor Khan wants London to step in just as long as the government pays for it. This is not a new issue I remember seeing reports about this going back decades. At some point the organisers are going to have to wake up and make changes to reduce the costs if they want the games to continue. What those changes are I have no idea, but maybe reduce the number of sports or stop including sports that have a world championship and the Olympics and see this as a poor alternative. For some sports the CG does matter so maybe focus on them.

an excellent idea. Include a load of Sports that never get much publicity.....something Novel and interesting. any suggestions ?

THE purpose of any Empire is for the centre to devour the periphery. History seems to show that in late Empire, the opposite seems to happen. Attila & the Huns wanted to be Romans. Same religion, lifestyle etc. Rome, Hitler's Empire , Napoleon, .....and increasingly the British Empire - all getting invaded & eaten from the periphery. Commonwealth games ? The Romans always brought their sports & entertainments to the periphery. The indigenous sports of the periphery sometimes die....as among the Aztecs, Inca, Maya and their weird football-hip-bounce deadly game. Or sometimes survive, as in Irish Hurling. Sport is an expression of culture. The Commonwealth Games is now just a second-rate Olympics. Maybe it should have been honoured & entombed with QEII. The Future will be China.
