Great analysis.
Wasn't it TV, Pundits, Managers, FANS & finally players who ALL wanted this, look where we are, mayhem, distrust, & enjoyment out the window

When it was initially talked about it seemed like a way of making things a bit fairer by helping with Big Club bias but it's become something else. The time added is another element -:when the ball is only in play for about 45 minutes adding another ten or more with the players standing around getting cold is no good.

In terms of "Clear and obvious", in testing there was no unanimity with different VARs forming different opinions due to the 'Subjectivity' aspect of the decision making.

In terms of the VAR it is not a question of "Do I think the decision is right or wrong?" but, "Does the decision of the referee constitute a clear and obvious error?"

VAR was never going to be a panacea - what is irksome to supporters are the breaks in play whist decisions are forensically analysed for in some cases what appears an eternity and the fact that one has to wait to see if a goal has been scored or not.

I was asking because you said it Would lead to poor decisions at the end of games when teams have run out of 'challenges '.
If the challenges were upheld they'd still be available. It works pretty well in cricket for wrong L.B.W. and caught behind decisions.

Sorry I thought you said goals

Cricket is a different sport based on appeals to the umpire not referees who make decisions without prompting
So if the challenges are not upheld you go back to the refs decision is final with no help from VAR if there is dodgy situation and if they are upheld you get continuous challenges . As I said chaos

And we still need a striker

More likely everyone else will have shape shifting Terminators and we'll get R2-D2 and a busted down Robbie the Robot.

The view of Neil Warnock :

VAR is killing the PL with the way it’s implemented.

The unique joy for players/fans when a goal is scored has gone

It’s making referees lazy and unaccountable

It’s overused and making the game feel artificial

For me, the @EFL is much more enjoyable to watch without VAR.

Hard to disagree with any of those points.
The way VAR is implemented in European competitions seems to be a lot better than in England both in the way it's implemented and the time it takes.
