On the plus side Edouard is doing well this season in 5 EPL games he has 4 goals. His highest was 6 goals and 3 assists in the 2021/22 EPL season.

This could be a season where he can easily score 15+ EPL goals at a minimum. With Franca and Olise still to return he will get a lot more opportunities to score. Credit to Mateta as well has done well off the bench.

Next 10 EPL games: Fulham, UTD, Forest, Newcastle, Spurs, Burnley , Everton , Luton, West Ham, Bournemouth

They do not look too bad UTD are struggling now lot of issues (Antony, Sancho etc probably the best time to play them). Newcastle are not having the same start as last season. Probably the hardest games here are West Ham and Spurs. In the next 10 games they should get over 15 pts at a minimum. Hopefully Olise and Franca return as soon as possible.

Yes it was a woeful penalty decision, however I expect we would have somehow contrived to let Villa grab a winner in some other way before the extra time was through.

The facts are that - yet again - we fail to put clear chances away and - in true Palace style - we have no idea about 'managing a game' when ahead i.e. niggly, rotation fouling, breaking up play and general disruption. You remember - what Arsenal managed to do to us with just 10 men against our 11.

In truth Arsenal also have far better players than us and a squad that can cope with players out injured. Our downfall yesterday was that we didn’t have a good enough squad to help when our players were knackered after 75 mins plus we didn’t get that killer second goal :-( We would most probably had got a deserved point if the ref had got his decision correct as well and then we would all be pleased. Terrible ref decision after having so long to get it right - Grrrrr!

We really missed Roy. Some big calls were needed throughout the game. Roy’s skills were sorely missed.
It was glaringly clear how valuable Roy is to us.

Yep, the fact that all 3 of them said straight away it wasn’t a pen tells you everything.

How Darren England can watch that back and still think it is a penalty is beyond me.

There’s a very obvious reason why the VAR recommended the referee go to the monitor and I’m amazed he didn’t overturn his on field decision.

We were robbed of a point there and Lineker, Shearer & Murphy clearly agree.

England "VAR can I have a badge check please"

VAR "It's Palace"

England "thanks I will stick with my original decision."

Clearly Richards first touch is on the ball, not the man (MOTD).

It takes a five minute stoppage for VAR not to see that.

Quite incredible, another VAR howler at Newcastle decided the game with Brentford.

It's a lottery, the game would be better off without it.

I’ve been thinking could we have done things differently in the last 15 mins.
It’s always easier in hindsight of course.
We noticeably afforded Villa a bit more space in midfield as we appeared to tire so another body in midfield may have helped to block the spaces and prevent Villa picking passes.
The opposing argument of course is that attack is the best form of defence and we were causing Villa problems.
Eze and Ward both missed presentable chances to take the game away from Villa.
I’m never truly comfortable when Palace are only one ahead as we don’t keep many clean sheets.
Even v Wolves we allowed them to score a second, but fortunately had a 2 goal cushion and were able to see the game out.
In conclusion you probably just have to put it done to one of those games where we didn’t get the breaks in our favour.

I agree to getting rid of VAR but weren’t both the penalties given on field (I know the assistant referee gave Newcastle’s) by the officials so would’ve been penalties anyway?

Woken up more angry about this, despite my rather athletic night in with the missus. Oh well, rugby today and then ten pints or so should do it.

Should do what? Make sure that the missus is safe tonight, I'd wager.
