I have often wondered about this.

I am an atheist my father is a Christian and I was baptised. I would describe myself as an English atheist. But being Jewish even though you do not believe in the religion appears to be more important than your nationality.

As you say it does appear to be tribal.

It's hard not to notice it nowadays.

Still, we have the likes of Mike Benz.

Israel have made it quite clear that this does not stop their attacks but at most leads to a pause.

If the Israeli government left Gaza with any potential for attacking it....which in reality means a male population then it would be attacked as soon as the means were available....which in reality is time.

So Netanyahu has two options, attack/starve Gaza into UN removal, thus ending the Gaza threat, which is what the majority of Israelis want.

The other option is accept what most governments outside Israel want and pull out of Gaza and resign because his government would break up....probably leading to his prosecution....I'm not seeing his incentives.

I know what I think is more likely.

Pretty clear what his options are. Buggered either way. He walked right into this dilemma.

And I am not too sure Hamas can simply hand back the hostages. I don't think they have control over all of them. We are not sure how many have been killed by their captors or Israeli air strikes. All they can do is offer up who they actually hold as a gesture of good faith which - while Palestinians currently the moral cards - will pile unimaginable pressure on Israel.

I agree...personally I think their hostages were smuggled into Egypt. If you put yourself in their shoes that's what you'd do...and there are certainly people happy to help over there.

Either that or they have tunnels too deep, large, hidden and well stocked for them to worry about....I go with the former.

Netanyahu has wanted this situation for decades. I don't see him missing his chance of clearing out Gaza by hook or by crook....Israel will pay a heavy price for it but I think they will do it regardless.

If Israel think things look bad now it's going to get much worse.

I'll never have a side in this conflict.....I'm done with having sides in foreign conflicts.

This guy wants to send all the Gazans to Europe.

This country is run by elites and the middle class in institutions who put foreigners first.

Didn’t Israel want a list of hostages that were still alive as part of any ceasefire? That way they have a starting point if somebody eventually doesn’t get released alive. I assume that hasn’t been agreed hence the continuing conflict.
Anyway the UK backed the UN ceasefire resolution which is what the marchers had been demanding but I see they were out again yesterday; not sure what this week’s demands are…

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

I think they want 'Fiddler on the Roof' banned from national TV.

Which bit is what they teach children in Palestine?

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

Peace deals Palestine rejected...!.

1. Peel Commission (1937): The Peel Commission recommended the partition of Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. The Arab Higher Committee rejected the proposal as it granted only a limited portion of the land to the Arabs.

2. UN Partition Plan (1947): The United Nations General Assembly proposed the partition of Palestine into separate Jewish and Arab states. The Arab states, including the Palestinian Arab leadership, rejected the plan as they believed it was unfair and violated their rights.

3. Camp David Summit (2000): The Camp David Summit, mediated by US President Bill Clinton, aimed to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Palestinian Authority President Yasser Arafat rejected the proposal put forward by Israel, stating it did not meet their minimum requirements, such as the status of Jerusalem and the right of return for Palestinian refugees.

4. Taba Summit (2001): Following the failure of the Camp David Summit, negotiations continued at the Taba Summit in Egypt. Despite progress being made on issues like borders, Israel's then-Prime Minister Ehud Barak claimed the Palestinian side rejected the offer without counterproposals.

5. Annapolis Conference (2007): The Annapolis Conference aimed at reinvigorating Israeli-Palestinian peace negotiations. However, the Palestinian Authority under President Mahmoud Abbas rejected subsequent proposals by Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert, claiming they did not fully meet their demands.

Hamas has openly said it wants to eradicate Israel and all the Jews. this is common knowledge. anybody who supports these idiots are idiots...

Just saying 🤦
