Not nearly enough punishment for flagrant breach of rules. Will be halved on appeal and best season to have the deduction
As this has happened over a few seasons, what do the relegated clubs do? Hopefully sue the PL.
What about Chelsea and Man City?

What's the betting the points we dropped against them end up keeping them up.

Let's hope they move on to the other clubs with the same vigour.

Just like every other season then.

would love to see Citeh get slapped with a similar penalty given all of their murky exploitation of financial rules. The Prem are probably too scared of their lawyers

Pity it wasn’t twelve and a pity we gave them three last Saturday!

No doubt they will appeal to try to get it reduced but it will be interesting to see what happens regarding the 3 clubs that were threatening legal action against Everton.

This. Penalty points always seem to be reduced on appeal so maybe 6-8 they have got off lightly.

Unbelievable that their dodgy owner has practically admitted it by using in their defence that they had a bad midfield and they had to do it, what a plum

Sad thing is they still won’t go down because Dyche has definitely improved them and they’ll have that backs to the wall the worlds against us sort of mentality that our boys had in 2010

They look well set up as a team to defy the odds with limited flair but plenty of guts and running in them. I feel sorry for the fans as they are the ones who suffer for incompetence and bad planning, the same as we did under Jordan (albeit different circumstances), but at some point the PL had to bear its teeth with regard to FFP or what was the point in it.

I wouldn't feel sorry for fans of City or Chelsea if they got stung though as they've basically dined off of dodgy owners for years and at least they have trophies to show for it...Everton had a few months of seeing Rodriguez. Wouldn't it be great if they stung Newcastle too.

This season they should stay up even with 10 point deduction. Burnley are still below them after the deduction.
If I was Everton I would accept the punishment. This season will be the best season to recieve a deduction. If this had been applied in the last 2 seasons, they would have been relegated. They wouldnt want to appeal, get it deferred til next season, when the bottom 3 could be stronger.

But this story will run. Leicester would have stayed up if deduction applied last season, which it could have been. So I suspect there may be compensation claims coming.

I'd be very surprised if this penalty weren't at least reduced on appeal, given that the PL chiefs are a crowd of corrupt, self-serving cowards. (Or is it the FA? - the same applies.)

This business brings back to mind the West Ham/Teves scandal of about 15 years ago. I don't remember the details but I think WH broke the rules when they brought Teves in with only a few weeks of the season left. He was widely thought to have saved them from relegation that season. They were given a £5m fine and a slap on the wrist. Wigan, Sheffield United, etc. cried foul, but WH stayed up and others got relegated.
