We end this weekend with all - first team, Under 21, Under 18, and Ladies having won their matches.

Happy to receive predictions for the next weekend that will be filled with such joy.

At the risk of being accused of pedantry, female players are referred to as (and more importantly they refer to themselves as) 'women' and not 'ladies'. I think 'ladies' is seen as being rather outdated and patronising. Just saying!

Nothing wrong with ladies. It’s the courteous way of saying women if you know your English!

You're all wrong because you're assuming they identify
Watched the U21 highlights. What a gulf between that and 1st team football. No wonder they struggle stepping up. Bring back the reserves.

I'm not a fan of this.

I have, on occasions, been referred to as 'the gentlemen' in establishments etc. and this provokes an identity crisis for me. What's wrong with 'that bloke'? At least then I know I am the subject matter.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Yes I get that. I'm in retail these days and regularly address my customers as 'Sir' or 'Madam'. Admittedly that doesn't really fit for 'younger' people, so I find other ways of addressing them.

Just to be clear; I have no problem myself with "Ladies and Gentlemen". I was merely pointing out that football itself has rejected both of those words.

If you read my post more carefully, you will see that it wasn't about the correctness or otherwise of English usage. It was about the terminology used in football circles.

I know what you are saying. You are old enough to remember when 'Cif' was 'Jif'
