A man of some wisdom.

And possibly one of the worst pundits I have ever heard. Poor Ron couldn't read a game as a TV pundit.

England were playing somebody in I think the European Championships we had a good start but it became obvious the other side were getting a grip on the game.

Ron "there's only going to be one winner in this game" (he meant England). Just after he said that the other team scored a well deserved goal for all the pressure they had put England under. God knows what game Ron was watching if he thought we were on top.

He might have been a good manager but TV punditry err no.

Seems a tad disrespectful to start discussing the club's potential next manager this early.

Too much could happen to change the perspective. In the meantime we support Roy and his team.

Normally I would agree where uncle Roy is concerned, but it’s clearly obvious this is his last season and the club will be thinking about who’s next(well you would think) with the help of Roy himself probably, so I think we can be forgiven in this instance

Would anyone take Nuno Santo?

Not in a million years, had a super agent handing him champions league players and produced dull af football.

This would be a very poor appointment.
Lacks any experience in the Premiership, apart from one game in charge when he was apparently pleased with the teams effort and performance, even though we were thrashed 4-1.

He'd had 1 day to prepare for that game, had to play tomkins,

Can't believe people are seriously suggesting Paddy... He needs 5 years in the lower divisions to prove himself before being considered a serious contender for a PL managers job. He should be applying for jobs in League 2 if he wants to start his managerial career.

I fear it could be Southgate. Good media man and that's about it. I don't think fans of any PL would want him. Not up to it.

My man would be Potter. Was fantastic overseas and set the foundations for Brighton which De Zerbi has since built on.

What I think will happen is that Palace will finish about 9th and Roy will be offered another year which he will accept. I'd be fine with that, he's doing well, knows his stuff and the players clearly respect and respond well to him.

Gary O'Neil hasn't had to go down that route

That is the most moronic statement i have heard in a long time, it is about continuity, not some useless one hit wonder, Paddy, Ray and Kiely plus maybe Derry back and you keep the progress made by Roy, Olise, Eze, Guehi wouldnt want some know all, Billy Big B******s taking over.

We wait to see where Parish and Co will go next, but I'm not confident given our past disasters trying to get in a new manager.

I would not want Southgate or McCarthy.
Southgate is seriously overrated. Be better working for the FA
McCarthy just doesn't have the experience (it's Roy's experience that has got through games sometimes).

Gary O'Neill is an interesting one. Bournemouth were glad to get rid of him. I bet they would welcome him back with open arms now. Not sure Wolves would want to see him go though.

One manager that had not been mentioned that I think has done a terrific job on very limited resources is Jon Dahl Tommason at Blackburn. They never seem to struggle to score goals, though do let a few in. But we have a great centre back pairing.

Also, having Tommason would help in getting Adam Wharton.

If you're on a warning, a couple months after joining, perhaps don't go calling the opinions of others as "moronic", especially when the rest of your post doesn't make much sense.

I'd love to know the other shining examples where an approach of 'continuity' worked in the appointment of football managers? Can't think of a single one off the top of my head. Also, Roy hasn't made any 'progress' whatsoever. Roy has done what most managers cannot and almost certainly would not do in keeping us healthily competitive, let alone safe, with hardly anything constituting investment in players immediately ready to perform for the first team. That's the reason he is in the dugout, being pulled out of retirement in his mid-70's, whether we delude ourselves with other theories or not.

I'm neither for or against most thoughts peddled on where we go after Roy, I'm open to hearing the perspective of others. It's fair enough to disagree but don't just hurl insults, least of all when there's little substance to justify such juvenile behaviour.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Not heard of Liverpool's Boot-room then?

Don't think Wolves would have much say in the matter if we were serious about getting him. It would be an absolute no brainer for him to join us given the factors mentioned earlier.
Similar to when Pardew left Newcastle to join us but even more reason for Gary to be back down south full time as he has a young family.

Right, so Liverpool's model from half a century or more ago.

I'm not dismissing the idea BTW, again I'd be interested to listen albeit I'd have serious doubt as to the comparison between modern day football let alone Palace now compared to L'pool then. That's just not enough however to base a stance of trying to ridicule and demean any other opinion.

For what it's worth, I still have a lot of love for Paddy and 'on paper' the idea of him being ready made and upskilled to step into the manager position is of course an ideal one. I just fear and would expect that the romanticism of that may be far removed from the reality.

Not an easy task, but I would say the club need to look at how they want the team to develop and measure that with whether we have the players to achieve that and if not do we have the resources to buy them. Very few managers seem to really adapt their style to fit the team, or none that I can think of, so surely the club should go after the manager they want, not wait for applications.

If we keep hold of our star players and offer any new manager a reasonable kitty of say £40-50m then I think we might be quite an attractive proposition for many managers. Paddy might be able to step up, but that's similar to how the U21s might be able to step up. We won't know unless it happens.

Nuno looked like he could be a good fit for us, but he's since capitulated and subsequent appointments probably raise the question as to whether he was underachieving at Wolves. Personally I'd like to see us press more. Watching Gala against Bayern last night was a great example of how I'd like to see us play; they were the clear underdogs but they didn't given Bayern time to settle and were really unlucky to lose. They made the game exciting and didn't just passively wait for a chance but instead tried to force one. Currently we don't have the pace or athleticism of Gala to do that, but like I say, it's what I'd like to see.
