They should 100% be spending in January this squad is little or no better than those around the relegation zone if we have a couple of key players missing.

One of Zaha's great assets was that he was rarely injured until his later years. The same can't be said of the current crop.

I think the Board have every reason to be very twitchy and worried.

As for the young players I've seen little from any of them in their few appearances to suggest hat they're up to much really.

I'd be very concerned that Franca isn't tearing it up in U21 games.

The Telegraph is reporting tonight that Hodgson is 'under pressure,' although it goes on to say his job isn't in immediate danger.
It says the next two games against West Ham and Bournemouth will be significant in terns of looking for an upturn in results and impact on Roy's future.
Nothing sensational or earth shattering here but the journalist concerned, Matt Law, is not usually given to unsubstantiated gossip and it may well be that defeats in the next 2 games will lead to a review of the position.
The article also says that Eze is expected to be out for up to a month.

Any manager will be under pressure in this situation, some may argue the fault lies with the board and an injury crisis (on top of the lack of spending) before the manager themselves.

The current run of forthcoming games is probably actually where you want a 'Roy Hodgson' so it should produce an interesting narrative/picture in any instance with regards to what the next move will be.

If we do muddle through it not too badly, I don't expect much to change. For the eternal pessimist like me, if our current losing streak extends to 5+ games, we may see a change of manager and god forbid some spending in Jan.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

The report says the Board are not concerned about dropping into the relegation battle. They should be.

Apologies I have been a bit busy lately but I thought Paddy was looking for his car keys & on his way to Oxford, did that fall through?

I think Paddy will take over from Roy, only till the end of the season, and then a new manager will come in the summer

All I want for Christmas is a new right back...(and a LB for competition, and a striker if there's space in the sleigh).

Agree with this. We ain't safe. If Roy keeps us up comfortably, he's our manager next season, IMO. We need to buy cos Roy won't trust the youth, so his option are very limited. Thank God Vieira was our manager when we bought Doucoure and Olise cos they wouldn't have featured with Roy. Again, only my opinion.

A few points here.

1) We're ten points clear of the relegation zone only because of Everton's deduction. If it wasn't for that we'd only be 6 points clear. One win in six games, let's not start getting arrogant about being safe.
2) As we now know our transfer strategy is about opportunism, so if a bargain presents itself we'll take it, if not we won't.
3) I'm certainly not confident that Roy won't be here next season. Can easily see him staying on.
4) If we're saying that we're basically safe (we're not) then why wouldn't you sell anybody in January given that prices are inflated? If someone comes in with 80m for Guehi we'll definitely take it.
5) Africa cup of Nations starts mid January so we'll lose several players to that.

If the board are really not worried about being involved in a relegation battle then they have really lost the plot. If the worse was to happen then their investments would plunge overnight and the new stadium upgrade would be further away than ever. As for Paddy taking over that would also be a serious cause for concern with no experience at either EPL or EFL level and as for filling the team with unproven younger players, then all that would do is exacerbate
our already precarious situation. Like or not if we are to survive this season then Roy is our best bet for keeping us up and it is also unlikely that any competent proven manager would want to risk his reputation without considerable guarantees on short and long term team investment.

I suspect that is a politician's answer a bit like "The manager has our full support" (Until he doesn't).

And what do you base this belief on? Apart from you just wanting that to happen
