I was on a cruise liner and engaged in conversation with a gentleman who introduced himself as 'Archibald'. He insisted that he does not take kindly to being called 'Archie'.

I have always thought the name "Jonty" to be pretentious, I must admit I don't know if people actually call a kid Jonty or if its just a slant on Jonathon

I remember a kid in my primary school called Croyde. Never heard that name since.

I'm not saying it's a ridiculous name, just very unique.

I once saw an article about the kids of celebs with crazy names and how as soon as they were of age they had changed their monikers or asked to be known as something pretty boring.

Frank Zappa's kid was known as Moon Unit 2 or something like that Zowie Bowie was another now known as David Jones.

Why would you saddle your kid with a stupid name.
