As players and really they are the only ones that count ,they soon know if the ref is up to job and there is really no reason why that doesn't mean lady refs . What I don't like is the positive discrimination to fill diversity quotas which this has all the hallmarks of .Being promoted to the Premier league list because of gender or race rather than ability will just see standards drop IMO. And we still need a striker

Rebecca Welch was the first woman to referee an EFL match probably 2 seasons ago. I have seen some female referees at senior grassroots level and their performances were worthy of credit.

Within a few years we won't have refs. They will all be Bots. We will have security on the pitch managing player behaviour. Women could well be the solution for that role. Edited by dreamwaverider (30 Dec 2023 10.15am)

Within a few years we won't have refs. They will all be Bots. We will have security on the pitch managing player behaviour. Women could well be the solution for that role.
