CPFC Accounts are available on the Govt website -its worth taking a look at what they say ref SP salary & bonuses, the report reads Directors reimbursement - £1.7 m, of which majority of which is for previously due bonuses of which most is anticipated to be reinvested into the club.

You are making the mistake of letting the facts get in the way of self-righteous moaning!

Holton thunderbolt:

I have said many times as long as SP has 20 per cent of shares and reportedly takes out £4.-4.5 m a year in salary bonuses and commercial payments we will almost certainly not build the stand or sign much needed players for hard cash unless selling first.

But yet the money was found for the training ground, and the academy. FFP dictates that you cannot spend the owners money on players. What you say just doesn't tally with the facts.

If Parish were to sell up and leave tomorrow he would, by a comfortable distance, be our most successful Chairman ever. And that's measured over 120 years.

Partly that is based on the extent to which he has established and improved the running of the club, partly on the unprecedented on-field success, but mostly it is on the state he would be leaving the club in when he goes. Nobody has handed down a better inheritance than Parish eventually will - the training ground, the academy, the infrastructure, none of it was there when he took over.

When people moan about the stand not being built yet, they sometimes seem to mistake it for something that 'should' have happened - like its absence is a sign of failure, incompetence or selfishness.

I appreciate that Parish himself put a lot of publicity behind the project, but even so, I cannot see how he ever ends up cast as the man who has neglected to build a stand, rather than the man who took a dying shambles and delivered financial security, a very well-run club, a training ground, a top class academy, and is working on a huge project to add the first major redevelopment of Selhurst for almost 30 years.

It's like telling Usain Bolt that he failed to run the 100m in 8 seconds.

In terms of whether someone else could do a better job, well yes, obviously there is always someone, somewhere who could do a job better than the person doing it, but it's not just about having very deep pockets. It is about commitment, care and competence. Parish has excelled in these areas in comparison to almost all of his predecessors, and also almost all of his contemporaries at other clubs.

If someone out there cares as much as Parish, is as committed day-to-day, and can run the club as well or better AND they have mega deep pockets, enough to accelerate the building of either a 45000 seater Selhurst or a new ground somewhere, within a few years, then please let them step forward. I am sure Parish would carry that person over the threshold of the club's offices to do the deal.

But there isn't such a person, is there?

Without enormous investment, we aren't going to regularly get any higher up the league. You can almost always, in any league, plot a graph of money and league position and it's a pretty good correlation.

You get the odd outlier of course you do - Leeds and Leicester shouldn't have gone down and Brentford punched above their weight last season, but they never sustain. The first two are now romping the Championship and the latter is looking over their shoulder.

As much as it's incredible we've never fluked a top 10 finish, it's equally incredible we haven't finished below 15th. On the financial table, we punch above our weight every season.

Should we have more investment? Pfft. So many factors, you could make an argument that Parish is a blocker but you need a) someone with loads of money; b) someone who consistently performs with it.

Without both of those pieces, we don't go forwards. The latter is always a gamble - there are a lot of bad owners out there. On the former, it needs to be SO much money. Taking Deloitte's financial report of 21/22, we have £160m revenue.

There are 6 clubs >£200m above that: Arsenal, City, United, Chelsea, Spurs, Liverpool

There are another 4 clubs >£20m above us: West Ham (£95m), Leicester (£55m - relegated), Leeds (£39m - relegated), Everton (£21m - less said about their financial state the better).

That's without including Newcastle who have since had the Saudis come in. And that's just spend PER season - that cheque book has to open every year.

To break into the top 10 regularly, you have to win the 'best of the rest' race. We maybe should be another ~7/8 points up the table but to suggest Parish goes is a wild over reaction.

…for Parish to step aside?

Why?
I'm guessing you haven't heard of Ron Noades, Ramond Bloye or Mark Goldberg?
The only 3 chairman that I'm aware of at Palace that tried to put money in to the club were Arthur Waite, Simon Jordan and Steve Parish. All the others just squeezed every drop of money OUT of the club.
Arthur Waite never had the resources to push Palace on but he did his best, built a new stand and left the club better than he found it. Simon Jordan DID has funds to make a difference but failed to bring in the investment that would have made the significant difference, ended up making too many enemies instead of friends and ultimately failed.
Parish has made mistakes and it annoys me when idiots claim he is above criticism because he 'saved the club'and he did get lucky with promotion with 3 years but he has gone about things in the best way he could. We cannot compete with most clubs in this division financially so he has built a Cat 1 academy, adopted a pragmatic view that staying in the division is the ONLY way to progress the club and in employing experienced managers has kept us there. We will get stronger every year we stay but progress is slow. Parish is not perfect but he is a South London boy, he supports Palace, understands the club and knows how to run it.
Some would love full control to go to someone like Textor but look at his record at his other clubs. For a start Textor does not have unlimited funds. Even if he did he has a track record of failing to spend wisely when left to his own devices.
