Parish the pantomime villain:

Audience: "Look out Roy, he's behind you!"
Roy: "Who's behind me?"
Audience: "Steve Parish!"
Roy: "I have the full backing of the board, Steve told me last weekend"
Audience: "Oh no you don't!"
Roy: "Oh yes I do!"

Steve Parish has the utmost respect for Roy Hodgson.

He would ensure that any exit process would be handled in a correct manner.

It could be that events overtook any plans that Parish had.

It's ended up in a far from ideal situation, but it feels like most things this season - if it could go wrong it has.

I think the plan was for Roy to step down gracefully, giving his blessing to the new chap but once media got hold of it that was the end of that.

Glasner obviously can't be announced until the contract is all signed and sealed.
I don't anticipate an imminent announcement from the club.
It seems more likely that Paddy McCarthy will take the Everton game with Glasner in place for Burnley, assuming he joins.
In between all this the club can announce Roy is stepping down due to ill health/by mutual consent/ other reason.
I doubt the announcenent will be that he has been sacked.

I agree that it will probably not now be announced until after the Everton match, but there are news outlets saying that he signed his contract today.

I wouldn't recommend it, it was awful. I started ranting to her about Schlupp's goal contributions and she started saying stuff like "I don't know who Schlupp is" and "I can't believe you're being like this on my birthday".

Some people, eh?

Fancy having a birthday on the day we're supposed to be bringing in a new manager!

Women.

Some people on here had said they was worried about Roy's health so maybe SP could see that , and with Roy's knowledge that a replacement had been lined up , so never assume , that's the low life medias job to make up story's to sell papers ,

What a dreadful day for our club. It's embarrassing. Roy was a 76 yr old Palace fan who was asked to manage the team for a second term without being given new players last summer. He struggled with his own tried and tested methods to develop a silk purse from a sow's ear and lost key players through injury to add to his woes.

If it's true that Glasner has been appointed on the very day Roy was taken to hospital it would appear he knew what was going on and it must have attributed to whatever his problem was. Mr Parish must take responsibility for the situation in which we find ourselves and it does not look good for CPFC.

Whatever anyone thinks of Roy he deserved a better end to his managerial career, if indeed he has gone. It would have been far kinder had he left by mutual agreement after our win over Sheffield when we could all see he was struggling. At least he could have gone out on a high.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery and a happy retirement Roy.

I don’t understand, this not been given new players last summer, aren’t Lerma, Franca, Holding and Henderson new players?
The pressure of managing a Premier club is well documented, blaming Parish for offering Roy the job, isn’t fair. He chose to take it, could be seen as loyalty by Roy or disregard for his own health and can’t give up football. The events of the season with long term injuries to key players, couldn’t be seen by anyone, so there is nobody to blame, I know in this blame culture, it’s hard for some to accept.

100%. Not sure what the club could have done differently in this situation? Tried it out with Roy, didn't work, he had to go. We set up a replacement for him and unfortunately Roy was taken ill as the rumours were swirling. Now all I'm seeing is how badly the club have "handled" the situation. What exactly are the club supposed to have done differently?!

And for anyone who thinks hiring a 76 year old man is the wrong thing to do, I would urge you to watch Roy's interview with Gary Neville in the pre-season and then tell me he looks like a man who didn't want the job.

Well said Painter.

Injuries to have played a major part this season initially Olise before a ball was kicked, Eze in and out aka Olise with hamstrings, Doucoures achilles in November and now Guehi.

Take the creative skills of Olise and Eze out of any team and they will struggle.

I looked at the squad at the start of the season and thought strong.
