Feeder club, who have we sold on apart from AWB in the last 11 years? You stated, we have broken our transfer policy by not investing in youngsters, do you know the ages of Wharton and Franca.

Would relegation be such a bad idea? Yes probably. Who's to say when we would be promoted again? All that wasted effort.
Hopefully should it occur Parish has some contingency plan. I note that we are investing in youth, and with codger Hodgson gone next season we could see a revitalised side under a progressive manager that favours youth.
Results today were favourable for us, but we still have to do our bit and pick up crucial points when and where available.

Very unlikely to be a 'quick return'. Look at the number of bigger and failed Premiership clubs who are log jammed in that league !!
Sheffield Wednesday, Southampton and Leicester have all gone even lower over recent years, so no, relegation not a positive at all.

The daftest thread of the year.

Getting relegated is never, repeat, never a good thing.

If that’s the case - why are you so adamant we should stick with Roy..??

Roy’s the problem..!!

Oh hello mate, been a while...

So, you'll see this thread is about would going down be bad!?

Like you have pointed out, our time in the prem, we haven't produced or progressed anyone of noteworthy talent to then sell on for a profit, where as the 90's and 00's I was impressed at players such as Wright, Martyn, Hopkin, Jansen, going off to bigger, better things, seeing players like Cole come and get experience - the prem always seemed like the prize to be in. Producing local lads that featured, then the likes of Zaha, then him getting the utd deal, Moses off to Wigan - you see where I'm going? I enjoyed that, we haven't done that in 11 years, besides AWB.

Then, we up the wages, bring in loan signings like Sakho, Adebayo... other signings like Cabaye, once you do those kind of signings, you raise the bar - I feel we lost our way and ended up doubling down on Zaha when in reality we didn't need too.. had we invested in quality youth players from the start, players with the right mentality, that fit us, with something to prove... but trouble is, with so many managers we had so many visions.

So yeah, you can see why 11 years of the prem hasn't been as enjoyable, for me, when we have nothing to show for it, just debt... rather than be a club looking up, using youngsters, getting some quality in and enjoying the journey.

This was once a quality forum....

I have to concur with H the G that this is the stupidest thread going.

The OP has even suggested that there has never been a better time for the drop, as it's going to happen one day anyway.

That's like wanting to die because there's a Black Friday deal at the local funeral directors.

With four of our super star players out, there are little hope against Chelsea. But if the manager sets up the same "parking bus" team as he has for most of the season, the crowd will react. Losing is acceptable if we give it all, but the way we have surrendered lately make us the laughing stock of PL. At least have a go, place round pegs in round holes and for God's sake, avoid those stupid goals from corners.

Exactly. There is no upside to relegation, we will lose our best players and find ourselves in debt whilst trying to re-build.

I don't see the point in supporting a team if you don't have a dream that maybe someday your club will get promoted or win something.

It's the hope that keeps us going even when the reality is somewhat different.

How many times have fans come away from a game saying "that's the last time, never again" only to pop up the next week.

So, you now agree, we are no longer a feeder club. You say being in the Premier isnt enjoyable, but you liked it when we sold our best players in the past, strange.

And yet here you are contributing

Bournemouth, Fulham, Wolves, Newcastle and Aston Villa are all teams above us and playing much more attractive football. They have also all been relegated and promoted since Palace's current stint in the EPL started
