I do not envisage Ray Lewington remaining at the club as he is very much part of 'Team Hodgson', but I would not be surprised if Paddy McCarthy was retained.

I hope not, cant see a huge amount of benefit in it. Would rather have a clean slate.

Probably this.

According to an article in the Athletic, Glasner is bringing in four people - a fitness specialist and three coaches uncluding Pogatetz who will be "the link between Glasner and the dressing room".

If this is true, I don't see Paddy having a role with the 1st team squad.

If Paddy wants to become a manager then now is the time to prove himself by getting a job away from Palace. I'm not sure he can progress much further as a deputy at some point you have to sit in the big chair and find out if you can do it.

One more point

As much as I would like to see Paddy stay on at Palace in recognition of his loyalty to our club, I suspect Glasner will want his own team alongside him. In any event, as Badger wrote, it may be in his own interest to seek pastures new - he is a fine coach and has potential to develop into a well respected manager.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Clean house get rid of them all. Paddy needs to manage a team in the lower leagues.

I have bored myself by repeating the wish that Paddy goes back to U21 which, in a club with aspirations of the academy feeder club, would be an extremely important role. However, I suspect he would consider it a demotion (I would consider it a paying job).

His use may be one of continuity. OG may like what he sees but especially like his good relations with the playing staff (I guess?). Instead of a clean slate which needs to build over time (which we do not have) he could help facilitate a smoother transition from Royball to OGball.

Probably something like that , Paddy's after match interview was all about everyone being professional and flexible and being able to adapt to lots of different systems . It was actually quite a good interview for any role the club has lined up for him .

And we still need a striker

So Ray has now departed. I really hope a role for Paddy materialises. He is a great character to have around the place and would provide stability.

Probably better for everybody if Paddy finds himself a manager role in the lower divisions to prove himself.

It appears he and Kiely will be staying till the end of the season to provide an element of continuity whilst Glasner and his group settle in, or that's how read an Athletic article.

If he holds any hope of the first team role in the future then I totally agree. I would imagine a league 1 or 2 team would probably have a punt with him given his recent experience.

We still haven't got a set piece coach which I think is a bad mistake.
