I read Simon Hughes' book Men in White Suits about Liverpool in the 90s which mentioned when Rush first signed for them he couldn't settle and was seriously considering an offer from Crystal Palace but was talked out of it by the boot room team who thought he might do alright if he stayed at Anfield.
