The career of Paul Pogba ends in ignominy.

[Link]

IMO the most overrated, overpaid, arrogant prima donna ever to kick a ball.

I expect he'll make a bit more lucre selling his story to the tabloids or get someone who can write to pen his autobiography.

Will not be missed at all.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

Agreed although I wonder why a four year ban. I am sure PL players have been treated more leniently. Is there a punishment standard across UEFA?

You can argue he's not achieved as much as he could have given his talent, but it's not a bad bloody career.

91 caps for France, world cup winner, 300 top level games for Juventus and United.

The hate he attracts doesn't really make sense to me.

Does for me EDN, as despite what others may say, I think he was an absolutely brilliant player.

Pogba's inclusion in teams that won things, including a World Cup, are not coincidental for me and the flack he receives, I would suggest, still comes from a feeling from many that he could have achieved so much more.

I'm not sure to what extent his 'antics' are reported proportionally to any other footballer, there is an expectation they'll all train perfectly, perform flawlessly and lead saintly lives, but the cartoon-esque picture of him that has been painted is certainly very far from the ideal image of what many will think Pogba 'could have been'.

Come to think of it... that may have been your point

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

He was enormous in that World Cup win - the midfield 3 of him, Kante and Matuidi were absolutely crucial to the team's success.

Yeah the second half of your post is broadly my point... he's his own personality and his own character, and just because that doesn't conform to how some expect a footballer to be, it doesn't make me hate him.

Is he that different to Wilf as a character, for example? Maybe a bit more extroverted and a bit less aggressive, but there's similarities there... we all love Wilf.

Will anyone notice? Really went from hero to zero all so quickly. Have to say that he was largely awful past the first couple of seasons and seemed always better in internationals in the end. Obviously not a grafter but he has 10s/100s of millions and will be a victim now. A Sky France pundit job awaits. This won't hurt him as he's looked not bothered on the pitch for years.
