Interesting points mate but I would suggest that the late approaches we’ve made to clubs should not be viewed in isolation because they are most likely a result of failed bids (that turned into auctions or due to some other variant of f***edupness).

So the bid for X player didn’t give the club time to get a replacement but by that stage (and to use my bad disco analogy) we know the lights in the club are gonna be switched on any minute.

We brought Freedman in with 10 days left and Parish had more holidays than Judith Chalmers (used to present the holiday show or programme, as there was 1 on bbc 1 and 1 on it ).

Before anyone again mentions phones, email,Skype or any other modern day comms, Frank needed a face to face word and not a lot happened. We resorted to going for players without his approval or possibly knowledge.

I know Parish can do better and so does he, or he wouldn’t be saying this and hope the criticism fades.

He has lots to consider. He might feel he could save some money on the transfers but he may still need to pay top dollar for the wages to get the player in.

From the last set of financial results comparison from end 2016 season, [Link] we are in the top group for wages as a percentage of turnover.

This is the list of clubs at the end of the 2016 season with a wages to turnover proportion of over 70%

Club Revenue Wages
Swansea FC 97 82 85%
Aston Villa 109 93 85%
Crystal Palace 102 81 79%
Stoke City 104 82 79%
Sunderland 108 84 78%
West Brom 98 74 76%

Notice anything incredible (especially after last nights result) about the other clubs in that list ...

We wait for the latest financial results to come out for the 2017 season any day now but even since then with Wilf and Sakho on huge wages we are likely to be going in a difficult direction on salaries.

On the plus side we had nil debt at that point - but since we are making losses the transfer fees we pay will likely be coming from owner loans unless we have cash reserves.

Striker siituation - some seem to be blaming Mr Parish for the fact that Benteke couldn't hit a barn door from 2 yards this season and Wickham has been injured for an age.

Nothing is fool-proof - fools are too ingenious

Of course Parish is looking at things he could’ve done better, you should always do that but, in what is one of the brightest spells in the clubs history, to be moaning about how badly the club is being run is just weird.

Interesting, none but us will be playing prem football next season. Better Sell Benteke & use the wages elsewhere

Really like Steve even though I have been very critical of him. Bottom line is criticism does not dilute support. Everyone can do better. The last window where we were crying out for ready made replacements just did not happen for some reason. Two duds and a striker who has barely featured. Roy really got him out of a hole this season. However in fairness great decision to employ him in the first place. My only concern is we have heard all of this before from Steve about the buck stopping with him, we're going to do this and that and it just does not materialise. Sometimes he just doesnt help himself with these statements of commitment. But.. by his own admission he is learning on the job and wants to learn from his mistakes. However he has got us where we are he is by far the best/most successful Palace chairman (imo) and deserves every but of credit he gets. I hope he stays a long time yet.

My gf supports Swansea and said that fans are always cross at Hew...whatever his name is, but all the managers have said

'he is a figurehead, he hasnt had power there since he gave up a majority of his shares...'

I think we are in the same boat, Steve Parish probably doesnt run the club anymore and is just the figurehead.

Not adding much to this, just saying its probably not Parish making decisions anymore...

I hope, and I mean I seriously hope, that Steve Parish really will learn from his mistakes of this season, and every season so far in this league.

I hope more than anything that we will conduct our business in the upcoming transfer window in a shrewd, smart, and where possible in a fair way that doesn't leave bad tastes in players/other club's hierarchies mouths.

Which players and which clubs would that be?

I dearly wish that we will back our manager, reward him adequately for the excellent finishing position we will attain, and dont make a fool out of him once again.

How was RH made a fool of?

RH said many, many times that we needed to sign a goalie in January and we fouled it up, making him look a mug.

This I know a little about, we did sign a goalie, Vicente Guaita. Getafe renege on an agreed price trying to drive the price up at, literally, the last hour and as such we now have him on a Bosman.

I hope come the first game of next season that RH is still our manager and hasnt decided with 3 days left until the first game that he needs to resign or retire from the game completely, out of the blue as far as the fans can see.

Allardyce's decision was exception in that it was promoted by the sudden death of a very close family friend and reversed due to Allardyce's ego, as such not sure what Parish can learn from it.

I hope that we dont play silly games on one of our main targets, like we did on Sakho. Using the press to plant stories about not being able to afford the player, and generally playing silly buggers up until the last minute.

What stories, planted where, but which journalists?

I hope we dont repeat any of these dimwitted approaches, that have been the hallmark of how we have operated lately.

I would appreciate it if you could expand in the above areas with facts please, otherwise, you're in danger of a ranting

That’s still 2 strikers and Wickham was injured for about 9 months on 31st August.

Again, for the love of God, we aren’t moaning about how the club is being run, we are saying pretty much what Parish has said, and what you’ve said yourself.

I agree with most of what you've written but I can't believe people still actually believe this.

It’s the whiny and entitled tone of the OP. Plus the timing.
