I suspect I might be on my own here but I was never 100% convinced that Olise really wanted to be at Palace. He seemed not to ever be part of the “family” and not that bothered. He had some fun with Eze and their partnership could have blossomed this season but I wonder without regular game time whether anything similar will be possible at Chelsea. I suspect he might soon feel on the sidelines and having to fight to get noticed doesn’t seem a natural instinct of his.

So I worry more for him than I do for us. He will undoubtedly make a lot of money but his career could easily stall. The players going to Saudi are mostly in the last phases of their careers. Olise is in the first of his. Maybe he will be back with his tail between his legs? It happened before!

Considering the money they've already spent and wide players they've already got, if he didn't have such a cheap release clause there's no way they would have been looking at him, anyone think it was such a great deal they couldn't not activate it but he doesn't feature in their immediate plans, so could remain on loan at us this season or is it just wishful thinking.

Is it overoptimistic to think Chelsea's tapping up may come back to bite them in the backside?

A thoughtful post Wisbech and I agree that he never seemed to be enjoying his football and, we all remember some of his dry interviews (mind you, Ayew isn't exactly a bundle of laughs either) but I just put that down to his Gallic temperament.

Interestingly, both the Mail and Express are tonight reporting that the Palace hierarchy are taking a tough line with Chelsea for 'tapping up' Olise, so perhaps things are not going as smoothly as some think.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Agree.... I actually think he'd fit in better at Man City than Chelsea. Can you imagine his left foot setting up Haaland on a weekly basic... frightening!!! That said he would need to be on the bench for a year while he learns their system like Grealish did. If he doesnt like that then I'm not sure where he'd go.

I can't see him being a starter, coming on as a sub can be hard too.. I feel it won't work out... but who knows..
personally, stay at palace two more years and have the pick of any club begging for him (providing he continues at the rate he has been)

Good points actually, he always looks so laid back and arrogant sometimes. You do wonder when he’s got to work so much harder to get in the team at Chelsea whether he’s got enough fire in his belly for the challenge

Could it be he knows something about his condition that is making him chase a long term well paid contract while still injured which has been offered by Chelsea.

Olise is undoubtedly a real talent, but he has had his injury problems with us. I worry for him that he hasn't got the strongest body needed like say Mbappe or Wilf before he got scythed down endlessly.
Having said that, I have really enjoyed watching him and I hope his future is bright.

He can p off to Chelsea for all I care. Good luck warming up the bench for the rest of the season.

I can’t see how the Premier League can continue in its current format. Three years time the top six or seven will be playing with Real Madrid and Munich against these new Arab teams. They’ve got all the money and they’ll soon have all the talent.

I agree with you and was going to post similar.
Where I differ is, once they're gone I don't care. I'm Palace and if they do us over, it's a big 'do one' from me. I actually totally hope he fails - bad as that might sound. It is bad and uncharitable of me. His millions can cheer him up when his career is over by 30. Or he's playing in Turkey or some other sh1t league.
With Wilf we did fine out of it originally and similar with AWB, but consider that Olise is going for 10 mil less than AWB did. That is not great for Palace and feels like a let down.
