Caretaker-boss Kit Symons recalls himself to the side for tonight's Carling Cup fourth round trip to Aston Villa.
He replaces defender Rob Edwards who is currently on loan from Villa and cannot play under the loan terms.
Andy Johnson is a doubt after picking up an ankle injury in the 1-1 draw at home to Coventry at the weekend.
Neil Shipperley should take his place in attack should he recover from his hamstring strain in time.
Jamie Smith (calf) and Darren Powell (thigh) are out but Aki Riihilahti is in contention following his shin operation.
Apart from Mark Delaney, out with knee trouble, David O'Leary has a no new injury problems.
