Paddy McCarthy

Paddy McCarthy has signed a new three year contract with Crystal Palace.

McCarthy, 27, has been with the Eagles since 2008 and has made 51 appearances for the club.

He has been promised the captain's armband for this season after Shaun Derry left the club in the summer.

The Irish defender played his first pre-season game against Crawley Town on Tuesday evening, where he lasted a full 90 minutes.

He should feature for Palace when they take on Chelsea at Selhurst Park tomorrow afternoon, Palace's only pre-season home match.
