Crystal Palace have signed Gavin Mahon from QPR on loan until the end of the season.

The 34-year-old midfielder has failed to feature for Neil Warnock's Championship table toppers and joins just before the emergency loan window shuts.

Mahon said: "I'm very much pleased to have joined. I used to live over Oxted way so I know the area well. It's been stop start for me this season and I need to be playing and in and amongst the first team. If I can give some input off the pitch as well as on it that will be great."

Mahon will be cover for the injured Alex Marrow who will be sidelined for a further four weeks with an ankle problem.

"It will be three weeks at least and more likely four," said Eagles manager Dougie Freedman. "We have to see how the ankle reacts and then he will have to build up his fitness again.

"Although that shouldn’t take too long as Alex is a fit lad anyway and he’s done a lot of swimming and gym work while he has been off."
