Forward Steffen Iversen has left Crystal Palace by mutual consent.

The Norway international had been unable to forge his way into Dougie Freedman's starting line-up this season.

He managed just five appearances off the bench this campaign after falling below Glenn Murray, Chris Martin and Calvin Andrew in the strikers' pecking order.

The 35-year-old, who signed from Rosenborg, netted on his debut against Preston in January 2011 and scored his only other goal against Coventry a month later, making 23 appearances overall.

Palace co-chairman Steve Parish said: "We would like to thank him for helping us stay up last season. And wish Stefan every success in the future."

A statement on the official club website read: "The club can this evening announce that Norwegian international Steffen Iversen's contract has been cancelled by mutual consent."

Meanwhile, Martin has had his loan from Norwich City extended until the end of the season. He has bagged three goals in 12 games this season.
