Midfielder Jason Puncheon reckons the future is bright for Crystal Palace.

Puncheon is enjoying his football at Palace and committed his future to the club by signing a four-year contract extension this week.

The Croydon-born player curled home a brilliant free-kick in Palace's 3-1 win at Liverpool on Saturday to spoil Steven Gerrard's Anfield farewell.

It was Puncheon's third set-piece goal of the season and he was thrilled to help secure the victory which kept alive Palace chances of a top-10 finish.

Puncheon, 28, said: "I'm really pleased and happy - I think everybody knows I'm at home here. We've got a great chance here to go on and do great things for this football club.

"I just think the belief and character we showed [won us the game]. Let's not forget you have to give credit to what Steven Gerrard has done in the game.

"But the most important thing for us was that it was another game to try and win and that's what we did.

"I knew that the last few weeks they would have been watching the free-kicks and I knew the keeper would have taken a step to the right so I put it in the opposite corner.

"Steven Gerrard was an inspiration for me, I watched him play and he was the driving force for me to try and do what I can to try and get close to him. It's great credit for me to be on the same pitch as him."
