Crystal Palace are still yet to pick up a league win this year after losing 2-1 at home to Watford.

Emmanuel Adebayor's first goal for Palace was the only bright spot as the team continue their shocking run which was compounded by Pape Souare's late red card.

They got off to a terrible start by giving away a penalty in the 16th minute when BEN WATSON delivered a corner into the box and Mile Jedinak pulled down Troy Deeney. The Hornets striker then put away the spot kick.

The hosts failed to get into gear after that setback but scored seconds before the break thanks to Adebayor, whose header from the recalled Connor Wickham's cross lopped in.

Boss Alan Pardew replaced the ineffective Wickham, who was played out on the wing, for Lee Chung-yong and Palace became more of a threat going forward.

But despite efforts from Adebayor and Zaha, who was a constant menace down the left wing, they failed to find the net.

Watford snatched an 82nd-minute winner with WATSON again having a hand in the goal. The former Palace midfielder's right-side cross took a deflection but Deeney controlled and fired low under Wayne Hennessey.

Yohan Cabaye was so close to equalising in the latter stages when his shot stuck the post. And inside stoppage time, left-back Souare was show a straight red for a two-footed lunge on Valon Behrami by the touchline.

Alan Pardew: "It was a tough result for us. We couldn't get going in the first half.

"We have had situations where Scott Dann is dragged to the ground on regular occasions but nothing given, I am not going to say it was not holding, but to have it on the first corner at the first play was tough.

"We know we are on a tricky run and these things go against you on these runs. We just have to focus now and get out of this run. The league form is a bit of a worry and we just have to put it right. It is a 90 minute game and we wasted 45 minutes."
