Going to be a hard game, but with so many injuries what team are we going to put out? Ward and Mitchel full backs, Please not Dann at the back. Tekkies and Bats up Front. Eze and Townsend on the wings

Guaita Ward Kelly Cahill Mitchell Clyne Kouyate Luka Jairo Eze Mateta going for the 0-0 and hope from a bit of magic from Eze, Dann and Batsuyi nowhere near the team

Guaita Clyne - Kelly - Cahill - Mitchell Townsend - Kouyate - Luka - McCarthy - Eze I'd love Eze centrally but can't think of anyone else capable of playing on the wing. Edited by Nicholas91 (22 Feb 2021 2.28pm)
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

VG Clyne Kouyate Cahill Mitchell Ayew Jairo Luka Andros Eze Mateta Dann has been woeful; PvA seems to have decided he no longer wants to play left-back, but rather wants to live by the opposition's corner flag; Bats will get offside leaving the coach, while Tekkers will still be on it polishing his watch. Andros has provided more energy off the bench in the last two games than most of the team provided in 180 minutes. He hasn't been great at times this season, but at least he moves and gets balls in the box and has earned a start. If, however, McCarthy were fit I'd play 4-3-2-1 with Andros and Eze behind Mateta and dropping back to help out when needed. If we play a flat 4-4-2 again then I really worry as there seems to be no link between the forwards and the midfield - who are generally 40-50-yards away. It'll be interesting to see if this week's events have caused Roy to reconsider his tactics. I doubt it, but you never know. Let's hope tonight is the time we finally show up. It would be hilarious if after all the pessimism we were to unexpectedly hammer Brighton. It would be so much sweeter if we did it when we are at our lowest point

It's got to the point where I really have no idea who is either fit, or if they are fit, are they anywhere near match fit. With the players we have that I think are available then probably this: ..................Guaita ............Kouyate....Cahill Clyne............................. McCarthy and Luka providing protection/cover to give Clyne and PVA licence to bomb on with Eze more of a free role. I just can't see us getting much from this game as there is just no creativity outside of Eze and we don't have a striker that could hold up the ball. The main concern is there is no pace at all in that team that allows us to break, which means it's either going to be a wonder goal from 30 yards out or a set piece. No way we can put a few passes together to cut through them and score a well worked goal. Edited by JohnB (22 Feb 2021 2.59pm)

Whoever is fit I hope we play 3 central midfielders to protect our defence which has looked very exposed recently.

He plays like he's got two broken legs as it is. His main contributions consist of murdering our set pieces (he'll f***ing murder them) and getting a yellow every match when someone glides past him on a Zimmer frame.
