I fell into the Hodgson out camp yesterday.

I wrote on the Parish out thread recently about being realistic with our ambitions given our income vs other teams. I still stand by that.

What is alarming for me is the continuing coaching issues.

1) Set Pieces. At Premier League level, if you're doing well or poorly it's simply a matter of coaching. We have international goalkeepers, international centre halves. Arsenal yesterday demonstrated what can happen when everyone has a job against a team where no-one has a job. Our net goals from set piece this season must be appalling.

2) Goals scored. Sod the injuries - Luton have now scored more than us this season. We have failed to score in 40% of our home games this season, only Everton and Burnley are worse. In Everton's defence, after their first 3 games they've only failed to score in the United defeat and a 0-0 draw with Villa.

3) General work rate. Hughes floats that crap cross into Raya's hands yesterday and the lack of movement is astounding. When Raya catches it, freeze it. Schlupp is staring at him dejected, with Trossard next to him. When Raya releases the ball, Schlupp is still staring at the Arsenal goal, Trossard is 35 yards up the pitch in a full blown sprint. He scores. Odegaard, who was also next to Schlupp, is next in line to score.

As Jesus gets the ball, Schlupp finally turns around. Turns out he was waiting to console Andersen who ALSO hadn't moved because he was squaring off with Rice.

That's sod all to do with the board. Everton, Luton, Wolves... they don't concede that goal. Their managers demand a work rate that means that doesn't happen.

4) Bringing on Tomkins to play alongside Ahamada against a fresh Martinelli? Give me a break. I have no idea what the point of that was but it turned a bad defeat into an embarrassment and may be the straw that breaks the camel's back. That decision got exactly what it deserved. Had we played another 5 minutes God knows how many he'd have scored.

We've conceded 5 awful goals. Poor set piece work, poor transition and work rate, poor in game management. None of that has anything whatsoever to do with finances and player quality. That is all coaching. Even worse, it's meant to be Hodgson's strengths. If he isn't delivering the goals, AND isn't delivering defensive stability ... what's he offering?

Parish will not sack Roy.

He cannot afford to as if he does Ray and a few of the backroom staff will need to go to and there is simply not the cash available to pay them off.

We will limp on to the end of the season, hopefully cobbling together a few deals on deadline day in a desperate bid to stave off relegation.

I could also see us selling one of our young talents now or in the summer to both balance the books and generate some cash.

Parish will not sack Roy.

Andersen gave up a loooong time ago. I've been watching closely this season, how frequently you see him stop running and just let the inevitable happen when an opposition player is closing in on goal. He clearly feels overworked and probably sick of having to continually cover for the likes of Ward and other players who aren't up to it. Heads out the door, wishes he left last season and hadn't drank from Parish's snake oil.

Agree and I'd add Guehi to that as well. They've both looked dejected and fed up the last half a dozen games and it wouldn't surprise me if they left now or in the summer.
