A massive TWO seats it appears as of 22.13 and exit polls.

Congratulations, Matthew.

So far:

UKIP - 4.5m votes, 1 seat
SNP - 1.5m votes, 55 seats

Where are the legions of TUSC MPs then?

Amazing how one man, who hardly anyone knew what he looked like five and a half years ago, has managed to kill his own party.

Mr Clegg - what have you got to say for yourself?

Couldn't you substitute the word 'Clegg' with 'Milliband'

They were never going to win a seat. UKIP did well, winning a seat in an election is almost impossible if your not labour, lib dem or conservative, because the system is simply rigged against party support, and geared towards the status quo. The lib dems only emerged as a party over 30 years, and now are f**ked.

UKIP have polled strongly in a number of seats and particularly in the North of England. A lot of people are resonating with UKIP.

The great thing is that it looks increasingly like more UKIP policies will be adopted by the incoming government to shoe up its support to its core vote.

Another step in the right direction.

When Carswell becomes leader, we will see changes to the party.

Overall, happy so far. Let's see what the results bring.

They did well and the sad thing is that in reality they should, like many parties, have far more seats on the basis of their percentage of the vote. But the system is rigged.

The sad fact of FPTP is you can poll 10% of the vote and win one seat.

Never win a seat! Did they actually save any deposits or poll more than a 1,000 votes anywhere?

I feel Farage has been hard done by. With the 3rd most votes and only 1 seat. This is why politics are so corrupt

Nothing in the South Thanet campaign was about the qualities of the other candidates. It was all about keeping Farage out. All the nasty literature and smears from UAF et al. there paid off.

South Thanet have "not" Farage, but have lost someone who would have actually represented them on a local platform.

1 seat from 13% of the vote. That's why UK politics is such a joke.

Its a shame Farage will now likely stand down although I suspect him leaving will see a change in how voting works in this country.

Superb. Bye Bye Nigel. Almost as good as Balls.

One seat. One miserly seat after all that exposure.

Ah, well. It was fun there for a while.
