Agree, how people can judge the lad on 45 mins is a joke. Lost the ball a couple of times going forward but so did every palace player.

I must admit it's a bit full on for a young player having a bad game. He's hardly going to be a finished article playing against internationals.

You're either the best thing since beans on toast or the devil's toothache.

I think Roy’s made his mind up and that’s what counts for this season at least. Just in my opinion he’s less advanced than Jonny Williams was at that age. A different position I know.
I never like the the next whoever rationale but maybe look where Wilf was at that age , since the comparison has been made.
Loan in January and let the new man decide next year.

This piece is interesting, says Roy sacrificed him in a tactical switch . . . [Link]

The hard part is for him to develop he needs to play. When he plays he's clearly not the finished article. Olise and Eze both found their feet in the Championship so hopefully JRS will get a loan there in January. He might not make it in the end but the club will probably at least get a few million for him as he clearly has talent it's just whether he is good enough for the PL which is a big step up.

I posted last season that Charlton mates all said he was nowhere near ready for the PL, so far I think they are right.

Hopefully Olise will be fit and playing by the end of the year so JRS can go on loan and learn more.

Ridiculous to sub him at HT. Tactical or not.

Big mistake not letting him go out on loan again, he'll not develop at all with us.

Have to agree, whilst he wasn't great more experienced players such as Schlupp and Mateta were also pretty ineffective.
Let's give the youngster a break.

Funnily enough i watched him early last season at Charlton and he had a similar game. Struggled to get in the game and when he did have the ball an experienced defender bullied him a little.
He learnt quickly and had a good season.

Yes, he is not ready for the Prem league, yet, but how many 20 year olds are?
Use him for now as an impact sub and then a January loan seems the way forward.

Let's lend him to Brighton - perhaps they can sort him out!

Indeed.

I think people are sometimes too hasty after a bad performance. Players develop at different rates but talent is either there or not. I think the general feeling is that Rak-Sakyi is definitely going to do well. The only variable is at what level.

Maybe our academy is not as good as we think it is. Jes is the only player we have loaned out to really have a successful season. Most of the others have struggled to make an impact. Compare that with Chelsea where most of their loans have been a fixture in the teams they have joined. The comparison is stark

Well yeah, if you're going to compare us with elite clubs on any metric, we're going to look worse.

Chelsea have *probably* the best academy in the country - the fact ours is not as good as that is not really proof of anything.

Phillips and Banks both won young player of the year at their loan clubs last season, O'Brien has had a transfer to Lyon off the back of his - we're making major steps in the right direction, one poor half from one kid is not going to change that.

Development isn't linear - Eze was playing for Wycombe in league 2 aged 20.
