Potentially making signings give us a better chance of staying up but it isnt fullproof. It gives managers options but whose to say we havent got the right personell here already. I dont believe everything a manager says. He made a rash assertion about our defensive qualities which i think he has since reconsidered. This isnt Stoke where he had a rich benefactor willing to splash large amounts.

Alright then.

1. What do you expect TP to do when Delaney or Gabbidon get injured or suspended?

2. What do you expect TP to do when Gayle or Chamakh get injured or suspended and Murray can't play more than 25 mins and can't get his form back?

Sean Lock uses a very good analogy for what Ryan Air are doing with cutting costs. They're playing Kerplunk with the airline."

Being in a position where survival is possible with 16 games to go means you do improve the squad because risk/reward is in your favour, not the other way round. If we were 6 points adrift and then lost to Hull then it wouldn't be worth it, but we should add now, and as a bonus it's a start on the Summer activity as well.

True enough maxi, but then not making signings isn't fullproof either. At this stage it would surely be better to get in one or two than none at all?

TP is the one to say whether or not we have the right personnel, and most of his recent statements suggest that we are still a bit short of what he wants.

A manager always wants to sign new players though. I think at this stage team spirit is just as important. We made 16 signings - brought in a new manager and two assistants. Soon we are going to be taking a financial risk. He is going to have to try his best with what we have. He is on a good bonus to stay up

You obviously know nothing about risk/reward. SJ didn't give a shoit how the cards were stacked, just add to the squad. We're now in a position where our fate is in our hands with regards to league position, morale is high, performances are consistently good. Now is the time to add. SP knows as such, we've made bids and are looking around, it's just you who wants to zip the pockets closed. RN would've loved 20,000 of you when the time was right to keep us in the Prem instead of watching WBA do it over 20 years.

lets also remember that backhalf fixtures are nowhere near as congested as the fall so depth is a bit less important.

The only reason why we will need multiple players for depth is if we make a deep FA cup run or have some replays.

If we lose to Wigan (which sadly i expect us to do because i dont think TP fields a strong team with Hull 3 days away), we will only have 1 short rest game (everton).

I think that as long as we bring in a central defender (Ramis from Wigan) and a striker (Jones from Stoke) we have plenty of cover everywhere else.

If we can f*** Jerome off and replace him with Jones as a Loan and pay a few million for Ramis we will have enough cover everywhere, wont damage the current team spirit and will give ourselves a great chance at staying up.

This is the same Jones that refused to play for Stoke.?
Earns big wages.?
Would be surprised if he joined.

My understanding is that he refused to play for Stoke because of differences with Hughes, but Pulis and him get on I believe.

Also his wages cant be a lot different than Jeromes who I believe we are currently covering in full. Even if he is on 5-10 thousand more than Jerome, surely that isnt much to pay for someone who is likely to score more goals.

Jones appears to score 1 goal every 6 Games so i would not sign him.

Not sure where you are getting your stas from

He has scored 1 in every 2 games this season and most of those games have been midway through the second half appearances as a sub. I know his 5 goals have come in the cup but as I said he does not get any game time in the prem which would change with us.

I dont rate Kenwyn Jones as a striker compared to most, but compared to Jerome who has scored 1 goal in far far more game time I rate Jones much higher.

If you believe the papers we are interested or were interested in Crouch......his score rate is worse than Jones and he is older.

I cant off the top of my head think of anyone better that JOnes who we have a chance of landing
