I'm writing a piece for my site about the Crystal Palace team of the 'noughties' and am interested to see who you guys think should make the team?

Any player to play for the club between the 2000/2001 season to the 2009/2010 season qualifies.

For me:

Speroni
Granville
Fonte
Popovic
Clyne
Watson
Hughes
Riihilati
Routledge
Johnson
Morrison

EDIT done now as I originally picked two players that either didn't join until after the period suggested, or didn't really play for us until after the period. Zaha was originally in my team, but having not really played much first team football in the timespan I have removed him.

Half of these guys didn't play for the club until the current decade, Murray, Zaha, Delaney, etc. I agree though thinking of a great centre half of that era is a struggle, Fan Zihy or Jose Fonte perhaps?

I wanted Zaha in the mix but he didn't really fit in with the potential formation the other players would fall into in midfield/attack so before any smarty pants tells me I have duplicated any positions, I just sort of picked a keeper, four defenders, four midfielders and two strikers without consideration as to whether they'd play well as a unit. So there.

EDIT: I just noticed you said it only went up to the end of the noughties (the clue was in the title). I'll rethink this and stop being such a numpty!

Yeah to be fair, I was thinking of a standard 4-4-2 as well for the article, although that would mean one of freedman/morrison would have to miss out

I think Murray signed for us in 2011, Delaney in 2012 and Zaha only played 1 first team game in the time period. I did the exact same thing when I started answering the question though!

I've revised it now so that it fits the time period better (removed Ward and Zaha who clearly didn't belong in my post). There are a couple of players in my selection I can't help thinking weren't the best in their position during the 'noughties' but I'm sure some statto will correct me either with some constructive criticism or a big facepalm!

That's an interesting one, I never really even considered that.

I have also picked Speroni in goal but I'm wondering whether during the time period suggested Kiraly was a better keeper. No doubt I prefer Speroni now, but he's gradually got better over time and I can't remember where he was in his progression at the turn of the decade.

his 3 POTY in a row were 2007/08-2009/10 i think, so for me he deserves to be in
