Post Ian Holloway there was a clamour for a variety of names and pedigreed talent to take on the challenge of managing Palace and trying to retain our premiership status.

There was not a lot of support for Tony Pulis, but sufficient support for rene, pepe , ole, and goodness knows who else, I think even Super Al and Chris Houghton were touted as solutions.....The aforementioned aren't exactly having a good run are they.

All I can say is thank you CPFC2010.....you boys are doing a hell of a job.

You secured the right manager, you supported him in the window and you seem to be ensuring the club is being run like a business and securing its future.

The support both home and away is immense and clearly the players and coaching staff feel it and respond to it.....other than momentary flirtations with the bright lights of success.....has there ever been a better time to support CPFC.

No matter what happens every player owner and member of coaching staff will be heroes. And if we stay up everyone involved including us for out great support will deserve knighthoods!!!

admittedly we have made a few mistakes this season but if we do go down, and I'd say that's a big IF, you can't say we didn't give it a bloody good go.

Anyone with a half a football brain could see he was the man to give us the best chance of staying up.
I wanted him from the off and felt frustrated that a lot of our support fell in love with the idea of a foreign coach and the idea to build a club.
It doesn't happen anymore (loyalty in football)
If you had to bet on all the managers in the bottom 10 keeping you up TP would come up trumps every time.
We are lucky to have him.

The world was a mess but his hair was perfect!

I think that there was a large body of opinion that thought that Tony Pulis was the man to keep us up even if we didn't like his brand of football.

You've listed a few alternative names there that were probably never actually in the frame but omitted two that were popular choices amongst forum followers in Aitor Karanka who chose to go to relegation threatened Middlesbrough and has done very well there and Dan Petrescu who is also doing well with FC Dynamo Moscow

He wasn't the man for me - mainly through reputation I might add.
I thought however that he would be good for us and so it has proved.
I need to eat some humble pie here and so will choke shortly.
He has been brilliant and everything he does he does for a real reason - not just to try something out.
He believes in what he is doing and the players will have bought in to that philosophy.
He can do no wrong now in my eyes and the football is better than expected - no neck brace needed.
Whether we can stay up remains to be seen but had we had him from the start of the season we would likely be safe already!
I am going tomorrow and will be watching - albeit from a comfy seat - and supporting CPFC in what will be a tight game.
Thank you Mr Pulis and thank you CPFC 2010!

What I love is the anti Pulis brigade scraping the barrel. At first they would pick at Results- Been very good, then the Style of football-Not hoofball, then about youth and smaller players- Played Boateng and played Bannan for a long time gave Williams appearances off the bench and has sent youngsters out on loan to get football experience rather then u21 matches. Then the transfer market- They thought we would by worn out Journey men like rugby players. Instead a 5 foot 10 under 21 international, a 27 year old 6 foot Celtic Midfielder and a very capable 26 year old 6 foot 5 centre half. They really will have to scrape the barrel now because he is doing everything right.

TP was the man I wanted from the get go but he has already achieved more than I expected - particularly with the style of football we are now capable of.

What is good is that the vast majority of fans simply trust the guy. They trust his team selection and they trusted he would choose the right players for us in the transfer market. It is a long, long time since I have witnessed such accord and long may that continue.

I think that you've been at the magic mushrooms again as your post doesn't make much sense. According to you the anti Pulis brigade are scraping the barrel because they firstly "picked at results" No-one has "picked at the results" as they have been good since the day Tony Pulis arrived.

Next you claim that they complain about "youth and smaller players- Played Boateng and played Bannan for a long time gave Williams appearances off the bench"

Has he played any youth players that Holloway and Millen hadn't already played and I don't include a coach trip for Sulley when he didn't even make the match squad or a cup appearance for Boateng whilst he rested the main players. I doubt whether Jonny Williams would agree that he has made many appearances off the bench either.

I'm not sure what "sending youngsters out on loan to get football experience rather then u21 matches" has to do with the anti Pulis brigade either scraping or not scraping the barrel and I'll finish as I started by saying that your post doesn't make much sense

I was gonna comment on this earlier but decided I couldn't be bothered. All the things that the 'anti Pulis brigade' did, doesn't exist outside of his own head.

People are always doing this, drives me batty!

I think I know what he was trying to say, albeit not very articulately. Before TP came the main concerns seemed to be the style of football he was supposedly going to play (predominantly long ball, low on possession and based on strength/height rather than technical ability) and the kind of players he would supposedly bring in (ageing, big, strong, on high fees and massive wages with little sell-on value).

People also thought he wasn't interested in bringing young players through and had spent vast sums at Stoke to establish them as prem regulars. (The latter point is valid, but has not so far been replicated at Palace.)

These concerns were widespread on here and the BBS and many people didn't want TP and preferred a young, possibly foreign coach who used a more technical, possession-based style of play.

Of course since he's been here Pulis has confounded these expectations and his style of play has not been what many expected, he has bought sensibly and hasn't been afraid to use smaller and younger players.

So the "anti-Pulis brigade", as Eagles-Mad puts it, were vocal before he came but have now changed their view and are very happy with how things have gone, which has probably exceeded all our expectations.

That's my take on it anyway, for what it's worth.
