Interesting graphic in the Telegraph. This is what today's UK immigration heatmap looks like next to UKIP voting hotspots.
People outside of the affected areas being frightened of their areas being swamped by immigrants and voting for UKIP. Places like Boston where the white indigenous population live cheek by jowl with foreign workers that pick crops and because of the sheer volume of people now living there cannot get to a GP for weeks, or get their children in a local school. People keep banging on about the economic benefits of immigrants, but if you live in Boston, Bradford, Bristol, Birmingham, etc., you are more aware/affected by the consequences of a sudden dumping of foreign people in your locality and the problems it creates. It's hardly a ringing endorsement of UKIP is it? 'Hold your nose and vote for UKIP to kick the Westminster establishment'. Hardly smacks of an ideological juxtaposition between two merging philosophies.

If Nick Griffin is voting for UKIP then others like him will be to. UKIP will be a Trojan horse for the far right if they have the brains and can seize the obvious opportunity that is, and will continue to be, presented to them over the next few years. Bedfellows.

But surely the people who actually live in the areas that have been "swamped" should be more bothered? Bradford West had a by-election a couple of years ago, UKIP came 5th (behind the Lib Dems) with 3.3% of the vote. Bristol has 2 Labour MPs doesn't it? And aren't the Greens getting just as much traction as UKIP there?

Of course, dear. Who do you think is responsible for the total collapse of the BNP vote? Do you think the Tories have now got their votes? Have the Greens picked them up through their anti-fracking campaigns? I'm not sure I'd draw too many conclusions from the fact BNP supporters are now supporting UKIP, but I think it's pretty difficult to deny that's obviously where their vote has gone.
