Be interesting to see what the new evidence is, and whether the prosecution can counter it etc. I was pretty convinced of his guilt.

If this new evidence trumps whatever evidence convicted him in the first place, the prosecution are are also going to have to come up with something new to make the charges stick in the retrial. I doubt if the 'victim' will be able to assist.

I have always maintained (and let me be clear, I have no idea of the guilt or otherwise of Evans) that if an accuser can be proven to have been lying to stitch someone up in such a case, they should face the same sentence that the accused would get if found guilty. If you are willing to steal 5 years of someone's life, you should forfeit 5 years of your own if found out.

I think that's not a bad idea, provided you can be found guilty of perjury (the new evidence might not support an argument of lying by the victim), but might well corroborate other factors. Certainly, its sufficient that it could have been a factor to the jury's verdict.

As the situation stands currently though, she'd face no recourse and would be allowed to keep her anonymity for life.

This post has been merged from a topic called 'Ched Evans' by jamiemartin721 can't remember if this was talked about at the time (few weeks ago) however I was highly criticised for suggesting the girl involved was a gold digging slag who new exactly what she was doing. It would seem I may have been right.
