This is probably a stupid question but I know nothing about law etc. I work for a dodgy company. Today I touched a 3 pin socket or whatever they are called by accident. It didn't have a cap/lid on it (I think they are suppose to?) I got a electric shock which hurt and really made my arm go num. I managed to get my hand off it quickly. A work colleague said I was lucky to not be thrown across the room and apparently he reckons it was 450v. Have I got a case to sue them? Its a horrible company that treats people like dirt so I do hope so!

What do you do for a living? 1st question, why did you touch an exposed socket/plug?

Hard to believe a 3 pin socket is 3 Phase/415v, considering a 3 phase socket has 3 live phases an earth and a neutral.

Regardless, if a plug has been left exposed and you've got a wallop, well, as they say "where there's blame, there's a claim"

I would get yourself to your doctors or A&E as soon as possible. I recently did an electrical safety course, as you do you start talking about your accidents, one guy got 415vols last year which even though he felt fine soon afterwards it had passed through his internal organs and two days later felt ill and became jaundiced. He ended up in hospital for four months and lost 4 stones in weight.

The thing is to keep positive, keep it a live issue, and get the neutrals on your side.

.
The question is:
Wire you suing them ? Would it be best to socket to them ? Try first4lawyers.co.uk. There's a plug

You are a livewire.

Unless you were in the process of taking the plug in or out, or had wet hands, I don't see how you have had a shock from it.

Optimistic as ever

Probably, especially if you are gay, black, a woman or disabled - preferably all four.

if he was negligent then you may have a case.

but I doubt you touched a 415V supply as you would know about this as you probably wouldn't be writing anything on the HOL or you were very luck to get a 240V shock not a 415V one

even a 240V shock can be fatal in certain cases but you shouldn't be able to come into contact with live terminals ever!

Depends on the Amp's rather than the Volts, but 415v would, I imagine, generally be pushing around some serious amps.
