Of join the Navy or the Lufftwaffe - Generally fairly safe jobs provided you're not an air crewman. No one joins Ultra-Nationalist Right Wing Racist Militias thinking, this'll be cushy. I think Jamie your getting confused with the Waffen ss, finest fighting troops in the war, and the ss who ran the camps, different units, different recruiting qualifciations, also different rates of pay also there were a lot more Ukrainan guards that we dont hear much about. Im pretty sure you would have got in the ss if you really wanted to, only officers before 1939 had to prove racial purity going back to 1700s, after 1942 im sure they would have turned a blind eye to a bit of gpyo in you

And an impressively complex one too, sort of a State within a State within a State. In truth, many of it's lower ranks - and all of it's non-Germans initially - hadn't a clue what they were getting into except that the pay and uniforms were better than elsewhere for (basically) unskilled labour. There were Bosnian Moslem SS Troops by 1944....The SS was a very diverse organisation. And an impressively complex one too, sort of a State within a State within a State. In truth, many of it's lower ranks - and all of it's non-Germans initially - hadn't a clue what they were getting into except that the pay and uniforms were better than elsewhere for (basically) unskilled labour. Of course this changed as the war evolved.
