I did a 96 hour bus journey down through Chile once, thou it was more like a coach. I think coaches are better than busses as they can have toilets.

In dog beers I’ve only had one.

Not all of them. Only the luxury kind that now also have USB ports.

True but do the crew organise a game of bingo throughout the journey?

I was on a train the other day that pulled into Watford Junction on time.

I could stop there, it would be remarkable enough.

But then the tannoy ran through a tape loop of every conceivable reason why the train was arriving late. Snow (wrong type), leaves, person on the track, animals (various) on the line, industrial action (planned, ongoing), train malfunction (various) etc etc. You have to hand it to them, they were well prepared for most eventualities although 'train has become a sentient being and is having a bad reaction to some dodgy LSD' didn't seem to be covered.

Sometimes I have a bag of raw chicken and if my train is late I worry that it won't be fresh when I get it home. When I do 'delay repay' and only get £1.20 back for a 45 minute train delay I want to write back and say "WHAT ABOUT MY CHICKEN?" But there's probably some small print somewhere that says "You transfer chicken about on trains at your own risk". Thieving b*stards.

Don't go anywhere near the peasant wagon. I used to have to every morning but there'd be this fat woman on it every day who I reckon never wiped her backside and just tried to disguise it with some overpowering perfume. Every time I smell that perfume now it makes me think a woman hasn't wiped her bum.

We've decided to get the train to Spain rather than fly. Has saved us about 500 sovs.

I don't think you can get the train to Spain but I might be wrong.

Years ago I got trains (plural) to Spain a few times and we also had to get a bus from home to Reading Station, the Underground from Paddington to Victoria (although once we got a cab because the Tube was on strike) and a ferry from Dover to Calais (although sometimes from Folkestone to Boulogne) and then a train to Paris where we got the Metro (that's French for Underground-they didn't have the free paper) from Gare du Nord to Gare du something or other and then another train to the French/Spanish border where we had to change trains again.

Here's where it gets really interesting. The reason we had to change at the border is because Spanish trains have a wider gauge than the rest of Europe so the French train couldn't go on the Spanish tracks without falling off. Although there was one train (a red one I remember) which could because somewhere beneath the Pyrenees they changed the bogies!!!! But that train was more expensive so we didn't go on it.

Of course this was all before the Channel Tunnel so maybe you can go to Spain by train (singular).Although you might have to take the red train or your own bogies
