Its not Muslims who knock on my door pushing the 'good word' might be different, but they're not the ones shoving the watch tower through my door.

Personally, I want to live in a secular society in which individual choice is defined by the individual where ever possible. And in my experience when it comes to forcing religious morals onto me, its always been Christians influencing politics towards a religious driven agenda rather than any other group.

I don't really want any religion, but as I have to put up with one why not the other.

Because you are advocating increasing its population.

With Eastern Europeans and Muslims from the middle east and Africa the religious population in this country has increased since the left's much loved 'freedom of movement'.

I don't want an increase of any holy joes here......In short from any group they are a pain in the arse.

However I do find it annoying when its claimed that Muslims aren't any more of a problem than any other group.....Like you have here I believe Jamie.

We are currently spending millions just on tracking radical British Muslims within our own country. Did you forget this Jamie? Are we spending millions on tracking those annoying holy joes knocking on your door?

No society should move an inch towards an incoming group.....Not the Spanish towards the English nor the British towards incoming foreigners. Integrate or leave. No one other than lefties asked them to come here.

The history of my family is steeped in these islands. Stirlings have fought and died in its armies for hundreds of years. No one is going to tell me that incoming foreigners (mostly men) looking for a nation of convenience are equal in worth to this nation.

This aspect of the left leaves me cold.

I'm advocating saving peoples lives and helping out people disposed by a civil war. I'm quite keen to see economic migration from the EU and elsewhere cut right back as well.

Lets not forget the polls taken after 7/7 of course.

They didn't paint such a rosy picture.

As I have been saying all along they want to take over and are having a good go right now. Again I have said that Belgium clicked on a few years back and started to send people back from where they came or just sent them back to a Muslim country. They had seen their towns being vastly over populated by the said Muslim race and their own people being outnumbered. The "swarms" just have to be stopped in their tracks or our dependants will suffer in the future BIG TIME.

And right there, you show your ignorance. Muslim's are not a race. They are followers of the religion Islam. The 'swarm' as you so negatively describe them, are from a number of different countries in the middle east. Maybe you should stop reading the Daily Mail.

Doesn't matter how many countries they're from. It's still a swarm. Maybe you should stop reading The Guardian.

Technically its a swarm of refugees. Not all of them are Muslim. One of the consequences of the advances in Syria of IS has been large scale displacement of the 25% or so of Syrians who aren't Muslim, along with those who are secular Muslims. Syrian Christians, Gnostics, atheists have been disproportionate in their numbers among refugees compared to their population representation in Syria.

Just because they're Middle Eastern doesn't mean they all Muslims.

I try to follow most of this, but what is a 'secular Muslim'? Seems to be an oxymoron at first sight?

Edited by palace_in_frogland (25 Sep 2015 9.35pm)

It's like a Jew who doesn't believe in Jehovan/God but is culturally attached none the less.

Exactly. Often secular muslims will follow some aspects of the Koran, such as not eating pork or not drinking alcohol, but effectively do not worship or following Imams. Baathists for example, tend to be secular Muslims.

I also advocate saving lives where we can.....But you are offering more than that though Jamie.

I believe there is a big difference between saving people's lives and giving them a British lifestyle and home......Especially since many here already don't have homes and sit on waiting lists.

Essentially I agree with the British policy of spending what is a significant sum of money providing for camps and taking in a heavily vetted selection...Preferably secularists or cultural Muslims...I'm not really keen on young men who have ran away from a conflict.

I also advocate helping those in Syria fighting IS and Assad. It annoys me that those that stand and fight in Syria are ignored by the left.

The real heroes, as is so often the case, get nothing.

I would be very interested in your opinion of the British soldiers and their superiors giving orders who apparently didn't stand and fight when conflict came their way in Dunkirk.

Yes I know they lived to fight another day but I am not talking about then but specifically what happened in Dunkirk. Nothing more.

And nothing more????.....Wow....That's almost impossible.

Firstly they were in an army fighting the German Army.....Unlike the vast majority of fit young Syria men I'm referring to who are running from ISIS and Assad. Right off the bat your comparison falls on its arse.

Secondly this army had been fighting the Germans.....Wow, Kermy who taught you history? Being a leftie you probably didn't bother listening in on British history lessons.....Despite the Scottish being a big part of the British Forces.

Thirdly, British and French lives were lost fighting and holding the line providing the time for the army to be cleared off the beach.

Lastly, they were ordered to undergo evacuation....Because they would have been surrounded or destroyed on the beaches...They were saved to fight later....It was a no brainer military decision, though it left the French right in it....Even so, these men are impeachable....These men were under orders as part of an Army that was later sent out on various missions during the war.

They didn't run away from a conflict. They fought for their country and many died.

Wow Kermy, just wow.

No. They evacuated because the situation was hopeless. Like those from Aleppo who bravely tried to stay for the last four years but now find themselves in Europe.

????

Kermy you are comparing a fighting Army to those not fighting in an army but fleeing......It's even further from apples and oranges.

What do you mean hopeless? They could join Kurdish forces in the north....Many have. They have units of Syrians from all over and foreign fighters too.

Once they get to Turkey they could get to the Kurdish north relatively easily.

Your whole argument that they can't fight is nonsense.

And you frankly comparing them to a British Army who did fight and died in large numbers is a disgrace.

The young Syrian men I respect are the Muslim moderates or secularists fighting IS or Assad.

You are doing nothing for them......Absolutely nothing.

Yet you want to give away British homes to young Syrian men and push those already waiting down the list.....That's the practical outcome of your approach.

And that's the left for you.

ISIS and Assad, they have an awful lot to run from then. You've avoided several of Jamies replies concerning why staying and fighting isn't this hero status fantasy outcome you've decided it is. As someone said, there is a difference between fighting for something and dying for nothing. What bliss it would be for these people to even be able to have a 'military decision' made on their behalf. This isn't a nation defending itself, it's factions that change with the wind, and influences, us included, that sway this way and that. The people on the ground are but leaves in the breeze no matter how much you get a thrill out of them staying for the sake of getting their head blown off and having an internet person hand them a virtual badge of honour.

The last I heard 'hated' Russia was being persuaded by the states to step up with a military presence. There are so many changes, one week you'd be a hero, one week a villain to whatever random person decided their opinion was some kind of vital component in what was happening. Not knowing who to join forces with in such a changable situation and not being equipped to do so even if you wanted you join the Kurdish forces for instance. You do realise that being 'fit' and 'young' doesn't make you superhuman?'

We've seen too many action movies in the west. "Oh it's good vs bad, don't you see? I'd do this, i'd do that". Yes of course you would. In the end, in this situation I don't blame people for doing what's best for them. You're not in their shoes. You're a million miles from any front line.

They have been fleeing for years.....They are only now coming to the EU in large numbers because Merkel opened her big mouth.

She quickly shut it again and is back tracking faster than Labour support in England.

But the damage is done.

German should take them....They have the population crises....They should fill it with young fleeing Muslim men and I'll watch what happens.

They obviously can't wait to increase their security spending like we have had too for the inevitable if small radical minority who are attached to that religion.

But they should stop trying to decide the foreign policy of other European countries.

What you are saying about changing attitudes to Russia is speculation.....You can't really use it to make any point. One thing is certain to any sensible person is that things are in flux.....But Assad isn't going to get any Western support....I'm pretty sure of that.

As for answering Jamie, I have answered his points and agreed to an extent with some while making my own. If he had any particular questions he felt weren't answered from me I'm sure he'd ask.

I'm not using anything to make a point. Reality doesn't require currency. I'm demonstrating how changeable the situation is. You're not there, you never will be so don't have to make decisions based on reality, rather than fantasy. You don't value these people we get it, you'd rather they go to Germany than here. You view them as cowards. Fine. That's your choice.

As for me in their situation, I'd fight.

I'd get nothing from you lot.

Any cowards fleeing though, you'd give a home and British lifestyle too.

Like I say, if they can get to Turkey and many have, they could join the Kurdish forces fighting IS right now.

Some have.

And they will receive absolutely nothing from you will they.

I don't regard all of them as cowards...I'm more making a point about punishment and reward.....As in a post where I answered some points to Jamie....Which you obviously didn't read despite saying I hadn't answered him.

Ah well.
