Great band, one of my faves.

Time to move forward together.

Mediocre band, who briefly over-achieved due to a misguided niche student following and a general lack of musical creativeness at the time.

Saw them in 1996 and they were bland. I don't expect things have changed.

One truly great album (which works better as 12", from a band that were notoriously poor live. Other than that first album, they were largely forgettable - but what an album that was.

It's a funky tune Hoof, but not a great one, IMHO.
All bands have their trademark riffs and solo's, but for me the SR's have a lack of charisma.

In terms of talent, I would place them between Bananarama and The Bangles. Which is a fine place to be, in my deviant mind.

Damn right, the whole of Stone Roses the Stone Roses is blindingly great (at least on CD / LP). Live they were very poor (when I saw them) largely because Ian Brown couldn't sing. But that and many of their tracks were monster tracks on the Indie dance floor.

Ian Brown can't sing for sh*t but that self-titled Stone Roses album is brilliant (as is Fools Gold).

I'd smash her so bad, she wouldn't walk like an Egyptian,...more like John Wayne

I see your mate Guy Garvey has left Elbow Dan.

He was on Jools Holland's Later Live last week with his new band - I enjoyed it despite not being a fan of Elbow.

He's not left, just done a solo album in between Elbow albums. Fairly common these days for people to have side projects. And yes, I've enjoyed what I've heard too.
