Ok, here is my take on the CB affair.....Liverpool want to recoup the £32.50M paid to Villa. In real terms that was probably a tad too much but hey he could bring them mega goals and instant success.
Didn't materialise and Klopp doesn't seem him as even a bench warmer plus he wants the money to spin on the wheel of fortune for a CB2.
Ideally his agent wants another big club and with it big money move. Understandably his stock has dropped especially also as he didn't feature in the Belgian Euro team, so the bottom line should be that his transfer value would should be around the £25M mark which, is probably why Palace started with this figure.
Interestingly Palace appear to be the only club in the
running which, says a lot about what's on offer in terms of transfer fee and importantly wages.
At this stage of his career Palace would seem a convenient stepping stone .....play his style of football and giving him a shop window in which, to impress the 'bigger' clubs.
From Palace's persepective, a lot of money to outlay but obviously believe he is the man but not for a long Marriage, maybe 2 years; in that time lots of goals and headlines in readiness for his agent to start banging the interest drum.
Stock risen, Palace 'reluctantly' sell to Arsenal/Man City/Juventus/Leicester City?? for £40M+ and what a blinding deal was done on the 23rd July 2016!

Klopp is ready to sell just as soon as an offer of £30m comes in.

Why don't we just meet this price and sign the player,rather than faffing around with 'ad ons'??

I doubt that the manager, at any club, determines the actual selling price.

Because the club isn't in such a hurry as you are and can wait a week to save a million?

Agree, to you and I,this is a fortune(certainly to me!!).
However, if this is the player AP and SP feel we need to solve our strker problem,why not just go for it now and sign him,get him integrated into the squad asap, before an offer is made elsewhere.

If we finish a few places higher in the league because of his goals,the extra outlay now to secure his services will seem like money well spent

We don't know the true stance yet of Benteke, Liverpool, the f***ing agent, Benteke's contract.

Klopp doesn't have a say in the finances, its dealt with by the infamous Liverpool Transfer committee.

I prefer the theory he is waiting for his years bonus.

Still a long way to go.
