Not for me.

See who they elect leader in the autumn, it'll be more than two years after that before we can actually leave.

Yep. Need to let this breathe and Labour are in no state to provide any opposition in PMQ's let alone an election. They'd be better off waiting for more bits of economic uncertainty and turmoil even if they had a credible leader.

I wouldn't be surprised if Hilary Benn or David Miliband step forward.

No.
We need stability. We have just had an election and frankly, the opposition is not fit for government.

Labour happily carried on with Brown and the Tories should do the same.
We need to unite behind the government at this uncertain time for Britain. The left will see this as a political opportunity, and typically for them, will try to blame the government for things that the mostly caused in the first place or were a result of the global climate.

If it happens before Article 50, perhaps a EU party will be sprung on the sole premise to junk the referendum result and reset...

With Dave resigning (in what was a very good and humble speech IMHO) I think there should be an election called so that each party can put forward their plans for a post Brexit Britain.

From what I understand the fixed parliament act can be overridden in certain circumstances. If we do not have an election, we will effectively have a government without manifesto which is to my mind, undemocratic.

Yes.

I think I was the only one sat down during the national anthem at the cup final. I don't believe in God and think the monarchy is outmoded.
Abstract social construct save our outdated anachronism. Doesn't really work. Don't have a beard. Fashion sense? To be honest I've let meself go a bit in middle age although I am sporting a nice pair of Paul Smith strides today. As for balls, Buster Gonad pales in comparison.

You need a completely new government. Anyone who had the mentality that EU was the ONLY way to go, has to be replaced.
Not because i think OUT was the way to go, but because those politicians fear mongering on the OUT option obviously could not even conceive of a Britain outside of the EU. You need open minded politicians who will steam forward and get it done.

Sigh, if only we had that over here....i do believe there is still hope for Britain however.

So much for democracy then. It doesn't matter whether they're 'fit for government' its whether they're elected by the people.

The same Conservatives and right wing that were constantly on and on about Brown not being elected. I don't think we need an election now, but we do before we make any real plans about leaving the EU and negotiating our way out of the EU.

At least with Brown, going into that last Blair election it was well established that Brown would be taking over. Certainly not the case here. I don't think we need to rush into an election, but we do need one that has party manifestos for what an exit will look like.

Its important to remember that a leave vote doesn't correspond with a vote for the government - quite the opposite - its resulted in the resignation of the UK PM of a government that largely were 'remain'.

For doing the job of opposition. Its a political opportunity for every party. This may be one of the biggest democratically decided decisions in the history of the UK - Its important that every political party capitalise and set out their stall on how their party will represent the population of the UK out of the EU.

I am confused, and will appreciate comment.

In 2015 Dave was elected on a manifesto that included the referendum. He has a Mandate to take the country out of the European Union; has he decided that after arranging for the arguments to be presented he can opt out of leading the country as it has decided. An election will just delay matters and could potentially give us a diet of Euro-fudge - rather than the preferred Devon Fudge.
