I remember Malcolm Allison playing a couple of games without a recognized striker.
Away at West Brom 1973 Whittle and Possee on the Wings.
A really windy day 0-0 at H/T, turned them over 4-0 second half.
Another season he did it again at Notts Forest 1974 this time Possee and Rogers on the Wings we won 2-1.

PS Both seasons we were relegated.!!!!!

This temporary striker didn't do too bad,,...

And it was Palace that turned AJ from a winger, into a striker

But we can't keep top players as bench-warmers, so I guess we'll have to hope no injuries occur

I'll be at Selhurst for this one

Butterfield's hat-trick was in an FA Cup forth round replay (when interestingly Hennessey was in goal for Wolves) and wasn't a feat he was able to repeat.

Johnson joined us from Birmingham as a striker. He was used as a winger in his brief England sojourn.

Regards turning wingers into strikers, Thierry Henry played on the left-wing for Monaco and was playing on the wing for Juventus before Arsenal signed him.

Thanks for reminding me! I've always believed the 2 relegations were my fault (see my 'signature', below). My fault for choosing CPFC, I mean, thereby putting the mockers on them.

Well, Dann won the shooting contest in training and if we go back a few years who remembers Paul Warhurst who successfully played the role of CB and striker?

Didn't Chris Coleman get used as a striker once or twice in desperation? I've a vague memory of being at Highbury and thinking "WTF?". Or maybe it was another of my nightmares.

Yes I think it was a League Cup game at Selhurst in the mud and he scored against Chelsea.

I liked Warhurst and he was a good striker.

In 74 I went to Forest on a 100cc motor bike.
Because we won I thought the bike was a lucky charm.
Alas it wasn't we went down to the old third division.!!

How can you remember things like that from 44 years ago?

I can't even remember the team that we put out in our last game of the recently ended season
