I can't even remember the team that we put out in our last game of the recently ended season

You have put into words something I have wondered about for years. My memory span, in terms of any sort of detail, with respect to any match, is similar your own. In fact, apart from the odd exceptional incident, I can recall very little of any match I've ever been to.

Can you hear the Brighton sing? I can't hear a ******* thing!

I was well into Palace in that era going to lots of Away games with my mate.
I can remember lots about the club then.
Still seeking clarification from the Reverend Nigel Sands Book.

Because we won I thought the bike was a lucky charm.
Alas it wasn't we went down to the old third division.!!

So it was YOUR fault then, not mine

I was also well into Palace in the early seventies and although I didn't go to many away games I went to most home games and can't really remember the details of most of them at all and in quite a few cases I can't even recall some of our players when I read their names now.

I can remember isolated instances like Peter Osgood tripping over a blade of grass as he was desperate not to score as they didn't want us relegated and conceding three goals against Arsenal when not one of them should have stood and of course I can remember the drubbing that we dished out to Manchester United plus John Hughes's wonder goal and that's about it from a whole decade

Yes !!
That season was the "transition " season with Allison.
He widened the pitch and we lost 4-1 to Notts County.!!
So for the next match he made it smaller.
We did not win for 16 games.!!
Going down in the last match at Cardiff.
My worst night as a Palace Fan.

I can remember Cannon marking Osgood on his debut.
We won,our only win at the time against a London Club.

I kept a scrapbook of press cuttings throughout that season. I've still got it; it's a classic except from the sad ending. I did it again in 1975/6, but after watching the cup semi-final defeat (mugging) by Southampton, I was so devastated I didn't complete it. Still got that too!

I remember the massive optimism before the Notts County game..,the new colours...Eagles instead of Glaziers, but do you remember the bizarrre player nicknames on the back of the programme! Swindles was 'The Problem if I recall correctly!

Yes I remember the nicknames.I went to every game of that cup run.
Had a £1 on Palace to win the Cup 200/1.
Have never forgiven Saints for crocking Taylor.
Was on the old Dog Track with my mate after the fighting started against Chelsea..!!!!!!

Derek Possee, the sheriff
Don Rogers, troublemaker
Alan Whittle, the hustler
Big Mal was the judge
Nick Chatterton, Interceptor
Bobby Bell, Blockbuster
Charlie Cooke, The card Shuffler
Dave Swindlehurst, The problem
