Mogg appeals to the snobby and it gives me imagined status Tory voter. No one with strong religious convictions should be anywhere near the top job. Thought we had learned our lesson with Blair.

Fascism at work. Once you start discriminating against people where does it stop? People with religious convictions have just the same right as feminists, humanists, atheists and whinging lefties to be PM. It's called democracy.

I doubt he has much knowledge of what it's like to work on minimum wage or to have to live on insecure disability benefits.

No responsible Government restrains public expenditure to make the electorate miserable.It is because control of public expenditure is the foundation of future job growth. And a responsible Chancellor inevitably gives careful consideration to public-sector pay which amounts to nearly 50% of current expenditure and about 30% of total public expenditure. Anyway we are getting into a debate about expenditure rather than the eloquent and erudite JRM !

You're spouting the same zombie economics that most other Tories seem to be carrying on with. It's been utterly discredited and only continues to do harm. There is nothing "responsible" about it. it's utterly irresponsible and comes simply from a position of intransigent ideology. Mogg is wedded to this same failed ideology, the same economics that has weakened the very structure of our economy and the backbone of our public services. His record shows he'd be the same failure of a PM that Cameron and May have been.

As for "Failed ideology", I would like to remind you that nearly £3 Mill more people are in work since 2010, We have more people in work than ever before and we have the lowest unemployment rate since 1975. It is 'Socialism' that has failed as I showed in a 'Link' on here but Gussett dismissed it as being full of exagerrations which is hardly surprising. Anyway, you have had your say, so have I - The Thread risks getting seriously de-railed so let's concentrate on JRM and NOT use him as an outlet to broaden the discussion into areas which deviate from the subject matter.

Well you may be ok with hardline Sharia-promoting clerics becoming MPs for Newham and Bradford West one day, and who knows maybe eight other constituencies in the future, and then in a position to do deals with a Minority governments for 'a reward', but i'm not. A strong belief ridden Catholic will be up for discrimination against Gays, pro-choice groups and even a smidgen of anti-semitism. No, thanks. Keep uk politics secular.
