I do think that FdB needs time to settle in and that includes the backing of the board with a hefty investment in new players during this transfer window. Long before FdB took charge it was obvious to most that after last seasons dire performance this squad was not up to the job, in particular our defence which is one of the weakest in PL, is disorganised and lacks any leadership on the field. Some of the players in the squad are well past their best and you just have to look at our poor home record over the last four and a bit seasons to understand that unless changes are made then we are in grave danger of going down. As for the appointment of a new Sporting Director, that also has to be good news if he can be as good and well organised as Les Reed is at Soton. Hopefully by pushing SP further away from the coal face we will get quicker and better decisions on players coming in as well as off loading some of the deadwood.

The skeptic in me thinks you're being a bit of a tinker to drum up traffic for your blog.

That's not what he said - his words were something like "we may have to ship one or two out to make room" and referred to players "you know you're not going to use".

There is no have to sell before we buy in that and, as some comment was within the FFP discussion it is entirely possible his "make room" comment could actually relate to the wage bill.
