I guess time will tell if he is a great Chairman or not, but as it stands this is our 5th year in the top flight and no one can take that away from him.

As for selling to the Americans, all of the top Premiership clubs have overseas owners, so there is nothing new there. It's all a working progress for us and who knows where we will end up...

I have no problem reading reports and watching interviews. What I am referring to in your post was...

..."but I think Pulis was in the same situation Big Sam was put in though Big Sam handled it a lot better. Difference being he knew Parish wouldn't change and maybe Pulis thought he would"...

Show me the interview, where Sam has said that he left because of transfers. In fact off the top of my head, Big Sam referred to the board as "backing him big time" with upward of 36m in transfers and also stated, "I have to thank them for that". That was from an interview that he did for sky after he had left us.

So your conclusion after reading all the reports and interviews is more about what you think or wanted to want to have happened, than what has actually been stated by all parties and then you present your conclusion as both managers facing the same non-existent problem.

I'm sure there were problems but your analysis of the situation is not only speculation on your part but wholly inaccurate.

And yet, you blog about Palace...

Hits nail on head.

I think Sam's words in the interview were something along the lines of:

I have to thank them as I've never been at a club where we topped the spending in a transfer window. Refering to the £30+m spent in Jan.

Our great chairman considering sacking de Boer after 4 games. Let that sink in.

So he can't win? You say he's made a mistake and should dump FdB, but if he admits the mistake and does just that, you'll use it as a stick to beat him with.
It looks all the world to be a mistake to me and as far as I'm concerned if he thinks it is he should do the deed immediately. I'd rather he admit a mistake and rectify it than just plough on regardless.
The thought of Hodgson is not one to fill me with glee, but he's a safe pair of hands for now. He's boring, pragmatic and plays unadventurous football, but may be just the man till Sam gets bored in retirement. The players at his disposal are tailored to that anyway as you all keep saying. Otherwise it's Dougie and I have doubts about him.
Whoever we get may need to learn that the budget is the budget and SP won't be swayed, if what others claim is true? I've not seen the interviews mentioned, but I don't read every little thing on Palace. I have heard Sam be nothing but complimentary about his backing in January and say only an international job would bring him back. So if SP and Co are hoping to get him they may be disappointed.

More fool Mark Goldberg for buying it on that basis

You finished with one of your typical snidey comments "But for some reason you think he was our best chairman?" but if you read the post properly you will see that he was referring to success under Noades not whether or not he was our best Chairman and there is no doubt that the Noades era was our golden era

I do. I think the bloke was an utter c*nt. Had zero regard for the fans or the club itself other than to use it as vehicle to make money. He was bloody good at that as well. If Parish were to sell our best players then have the nerve to turn up in a brand spanking new Bentley continental the next day, people would be baying for his blood. That's exactly what Noades did.

I think it's the right decision to relieve him of his duties but if the paper reports are accurate, it was Steve who wanted a new style. Surely you want your chairman to learn from past mistakes.

Totally agree with every word. He didn't have to put up with social media, scrutinising every little details, he just took what he wanted.
A great shame at the time if 91 it was our big chance to become an established Premier team, whilst the cost was relatively small compared to now.

Yeah he absolutely crucified our club when we had our big opportunity and people still talk about him positively. Parish on the other hand does absolutely everything that we've all been crying out for forever by buying superstar players and not selling all of our players to the highest bidder and yet he still gets slaughtered. Ridiculous.

Do people talk about Noades positively though? The comments here were about the success in the Noades era not the man himself

There is an alternative though and that is for the chairman to tell the manager that his style isn't working and to ask him to revert to the style of play that we know.

Personally think there's nothin wrong with Parish still wanting the club to evolve. And picking a manger he EXPECTS could achieve it better than Pards.

Day one frank said it would be evolution not revolution. The fact this was said so publicly tells me that the plan was for a slow change. And that's what Parish thought he was signing up to.

Personally feel this is why Parish is fumming and feels let and down and would be within his rights to call a hault to it.

I don't think he looses face and to say well Parish knew what he was getting is a little unfair if those discussions had been along the lines of it being a slow process once points were on the board.

In summary I think people are quick to paint it black and white.

My view is if Frank is unable to take his time and rain things in then Parish will wield the axe and rightly so.

Does that mean he got it wrong? No it means Frank agree to something and then went about doing the opposite. I'm pleased Parish is trying to move the club forward even if it hasn't yet worked out.

Final note is I'd like Frank to get his head out his arse and play to our strengthens until we've got points and confidence, as he could still turn out to be a great manager for us.

Can you really do that though. Surely if that the case then parish may aswell take over. It's like me telling Gordon Ramsey how to cook. He'd feel even more undermined.
