Hmmm, the press yet again goes full circle and this is how it seems to go in relation to Wilf:

1) "x" club are desperate to buy Wilf
2) Other clubs are now desperate to buy Wilf
3) Wilf has been offered a new contract and its been turned down therefore he must want to leave.
4) All clubs apparently on alert because Wilf wants to leave.
5) Home fans start reading he wants to leave so many times in the press, that they too believe he is going.
6) Wilf and the manager say he is not leaving.
7) Wilf/Manager comments not considered good enough for the press or some of the fans.
The original "x" club are no longer interested because Wilf is not good enough, or he is too expensive, or there are better alternatives.
9) The other clubs apparently lose interest (mainly because they probably had no interest at all in the first place)
10) The mood changes from Wilf wants to leave, to, we think he wants to leave but he's a good old sort so will honour his contract and play on at Palace.
11) New clubs enter the fray, because errr, the press have got nothing else to write about.
12) The press start reporting that Wilf is definitely staying even though it was them who said he was looking to leave in the first place.
13) Wilf stays, starts the season like he finished last and scores 20 goals and we rinse and repeat through January and next years summer windows.

Therefore an entire story has been created by the press with a beginning, a middle and an end all of which is entirely fiction and all created for the purpose of clickbait. If they had never written any of the articles we would be in entirely the same position we are now!

The truth behind all of this is there was never any offers put in, there has been no request for a transfer and all along the Club, the Manager and the player himself has said he is not leaving. 40 pages of wasted comment on this board with more trolling about Wilf leaving than I would care to read on another clubs board, let alone this one.

If a massive bid is made we will hear about it soon enough and a decision will be made then and only then and it is in the clubs hands as to whether they accept it or not.

I don't want to see him go, never have, never will as he is the most exciting player I have ever seen in a Palace shirt. Unfortunately there seems to be a hardcore on here happy to stir things up and appear to take delight in anything negative written about Wilf's stay at the club.

Whinge over, last I say on this until either the season starts or we get a massive bid on the table.

been saying this all along but not as well put, well done sir

Its out of control lately. I dont remember this level of total lies in years gone by. There are so many "voices" on t'internet these days that it becomes even more ridiculous year after year.

I actually gave up reading Palace transfer stories a couple of years ago because it is truly the definition of a pointless exercise.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

despite an iffy summer, we could still be 2 or 3 players from a truly great side, with Wilf the jewel in the crown.

I genuinely believe this could be an amazing year for him.

If we sell him now, I reckon we'd be favourites for the drop. if we keep him and have some luck with injuries, we could have a memorably good season.

The key is players who can improve us when he eventually does go. I'm all for that.

there's always the injury risk, but it's too late to flog him now.

That couldnt be further from the truth. We haven't been as well off as we are now. We can afford to keep Zaha forever (if we wanted to) but we need to stay up. The way we push on and stay up is to start splashing the cash a bit. Bring in good quality players and build a team around our very own local lad who loves the club Wilfried Zaha. The guy is quality. Every season we finish higher we receive more money. We need to be pushing ourselves forward to win the FA Cup, get into the Europa cup or champions league. We are not the little Palace that struggled in the championship and needed to sell players. We are a big London club that needs to be pushing on and showing our potential. It's getting boring now all the people that truly believe we have no money and have to sell to buy. What a load of old b*locks. The American investors came in and promised to pay for the new stadium transformation. We have got money for players but Steve isn't using it unless it's for fine wine and holidays.

Don't forget his vintage hairbrush collection, lol.

If he stays fit all season he could hit 20 goals...
That added to his creativity and in this current market (hazard worth £200m!) then why shouldn’t he be worth half that next summer...

Admire your passion but not your financial understanding.
Yes, there's cash available - and we're planning to spend it on redeveloping the stadium so that we can then generate more income, thereby allowing us to spend more on players (whether transfer fees or wages) under the financial fair play rules which are what's holding us back atm.
Shouldn't be too difficult to understand.

I met Mark Bright on Sunday on a charity football walk and he said a few interesting things. I originally asked him what the odds are on Wilf leaving...

He said that if a big offer comes in from a Champions' League club, they'll have a very difficult decision to make. If Wilf shows a big interest, they are worried about him being unhappy being made to stay.

He said they can see something different about Wilf when he came to training after the Summer. He seems to either have been thinking about the WC/CL or had his head turned.

He said Wilf's agent works with the club a lot and represents a few of the players. He doesn't think the agent is pushing the move on Wilf.

He said Parish has been quiet this Summer as he's a fan and cares about the fans. He doesn't like to either lie or appear to have lied to the fans as he wants their trust. I read this to mean when he doesn't deny something, there's a big chance it could happen.

My opinion having had this 10 min conversation is that if he's going, we'll sell him early enough to spend the money on replacements. No-one had made a bid as of Sunday. The longer time goes on, the less likely it is happening this window...

Apparel like this on anyone leaves me a bit miffed. Maybe it can be explained a bit better than in 4 words what someone means by this but it’s a bit odd. Like the opposite of a principled celebrity.

Someone will say it’s nobody’s business what someone wears but if you wear stuff with slogans and bizarre ones it does attract comment.
