Returning to the title of the thread, getting Batshuayi on loan instead of Gallagher as the 1 permitted loan from Chelsea would not be a disaster provided they have another younger midfield player in mind who can pass and go straight into the side. Downes from Ipswich looks a possibility also and would be a good addition. A younger centre half would also be an idea
None of us really know in this annual silly season where newspaper inches must be filled, who the club is after and what plans there are though surely even Mr Freedman understands by now that we are desperate for at least 1 proper goalscoring forward.
The Eze fee was a bit of a statement of intent for a change.
Perhaps our 2 American 'investors' are going to step up in this window, perhaps realising that if they are looking to sell it would be a lot easier do so as owners of a Premiership club rather than as 1 of the host of failed Premiership clubs now residing in the Championship.
