Juvenile, but it made me laugh. The truth hurts.

I am writing from the cold hills of New England to say how appalled I am by the refereeing in Sunday's Crystal Palace v. Liverpool match. I'm not an accomplished player, however, I did compete for one season on a school team in Shropshire and I played for four years at university in the U.S.

Surely you're aware of the incidents to which I refer:  the preemptive warning of Crystal Palace's engine, Conor Gallagher, in the opening moments of the game; the incorrect offsides call on Christian Benteke;  and, most egregious, the failure to stop play when Michael Olise went down, the missed offsides on Liverpool's second goal, and the incomprehensible decision to award Liverpool a game-deciding penalty kick when in fact it was a Liverpool player who altered his run to initiate contact with the Palace goalkeeper.

Thanks to my gap year in Shrewsbury and my years of playing football, these failures of your group will neither diminish my love of England nor of the game itself. But I am grateful indeed that my children are now adults, for I could not possibly explain to them how a system meant to IMPROVE the officiating – the fairness – of the game has, before the eyes of millions, led to the opposite.

The officials involved are either so inept or so corrupt, that they should not be allowed to work in this capacity again.  If they are not relieved of their duties, I will have no choice but to believe that something is rotten at the highest levels of the Premier League. Indeed, I would conclude that the Premier League values entertainment or profit more than fair competition.

Sincerely,

Don't let it get to you. I was the angriest I've been for years (decades) at a match. However, today I feel I let it all out at the game.
Friend and Lawson are cheats, end of story, cheats, cheats, cheats, cheats, cheats. I doubt they'll be at Selhurst anytime soon.

Wouldnt be so sure, just like the Premier to assign them to our game just to doubly f*** us over

I'm sorry mate but that is offensive b*llocks. This "nothing is their fault" line stems from the long and bitter battle to prove that it was police mismanagement and criminal negligence of clubs and the FA to allow matches to be staged in crumbling pre-war standard football grounds that resulted in 96 deaths. 96 people dead at a football match - it beggars belief...

How you have managed to bring up Hillsborough in a thread about refereeing decisions is very strange.
